Best for Metal! The not-too-hot output, crunchy mids, tight percussive highs, just right harmonics, and the focused "getting hit in the forehead with a brick" lows made me a believer! Trust me- you gotta get this one in your axe!

I play all covers now.. mix of rock, hardrock, acoustic (on electric), Heavy Metal.. But on my own time, I write my own stuff, which are mainly heavy metal. The Duncan Sh-5 works awsome for that stuff.

fusion/rock/blues/metal/country/ everything you can think of. very versatile for a ceramic magnet. if ti had just a little better cleans, IMO, it would be the best.

There's more to the sh-5 than metal. It's a great pickup. I voted blues rock, but it'll nail just about any kind of classic rock under the sun too. And Punk. AND metal.
Maybe a bit much for Jazz, but maybe that depends on your guitar too. It's an awesome pickup.

It´s the P.A.F. on Steriods. Like a PAF, it can do almost anything well. But all those steroids totally daddled it´s brain and gave it a bit of a "hulkish" feel. Huge tone, the kind that can really scare people, but it can do almost anything in thje right hands

I have a Custom that's been in and out of my LP a few times over the last 2 years. I love the way it cuts through the band and I can hear every note so clearly. It's a little harsh compared with alnico pups, but I find I can soften it by backing off the volume and tone.
I was curious to see if anyone else was doing anything medium/classic with it! :burnout:

I use it mainly for classic to punk rock, Its tight enough and cuts thru well in a live situation as well as being chunky enough for palm muting. It can handle lots of differnet styles and if you have it split in conjunction with the neck pup its great for a funky rhythmic clean sort of sound.
