sh-5 too much warmth????

I know there's a million other posts like this but I need some opinions. I have a PRS standard 22 and a mesa boogie rectoverb. If anyone has played either you should know that they have a really warm thick sound. The dragon II's came stock which only add to the warm vintage sound. My original intention was to get the custom(sh-5), but reading reviews the jb, and the distortion(sh-6) maybe better because of the presence in mids and highs. I'm looking for a good tight melodic death sound where palm mutes punch through and solos are articulate and sustained. Does anyone have any recommendations???

Most definitally a Distortion, or maybe a JB with a recto.

Is your rectoverb the combo or head? If you have the head what brand and model of cab you running it through?

Re: sh-5 too much warmth????

JB for more clarity and singing tone, Distortion for more agression and bite

Your amp packs a great deal of gain as it is, so I'd go for the JB, more clarity IMO

I've installed the Dimebucker into several PRS CU and CE 22s and those guitars sounded killer through my Mesa gear.

I have the combo. I thought about just buying a head but the combo has a huge sound for a 1x12 and I didn't need more than that. Thanks for the replies!

I use a custom and I think it's perfect for metal. Tight, but thundering bottom, tight mids, and highs that don't become too abusive. As for the JB, I had issues with its low end, too warm for my taste. Also, I've never tried a distortion, but I've heard that it can be one dimensional.
