great thread- i never know to recommend for the kidz who want todays loud distorted guitar sound (aka mayhem or brutal- as if people get hurt from just a bunxh of detubed chords) but can't get active pkups if they want to keep a neck pkup or use coil tap. usually i just tell em, get emgs cuz thats what u want- even with solid state. but this invader thing, which ive never heard, may have much cred from satisfied users. As i major lover of the sh6, i can only vouch for its Dokken/Megadeth tight crunch and violence, but i plead ignorance Pantera and post... Master of Puppets took me five tries before i bought it. One time, it was bcuz i bought Exodus instead, and Gary Holt, back in the day used the sh5- ceramic Custom. my final word would be- try the Invader because thats what it was made for and should nail what you want, then get like a mahogany epiphone or ibanez cheap and try different pickups on it ( as well as tunings or strings or whammy- whatnot) Once u experience the religion of SDunc magick, youll get it. youll try your invader on someone elses amp next year and ask us what we think etc. its a journey many of us here know, the tone quests, and in your case, im guessing it begins with the Invader. Later youll have loved sh6 or sh5 or Blackouts or Livewire etc. so thats why i say, buy or borrow a cheap but heavy beater gtr for other tones. Mark my words, when you outgrow Line6 stuff, you will never outgrow the tools that just NAIL the sound that God wanted put in yr head to deliver to hungry throngs, and nailing a KIIIILLLER tone is
better than being versatile.
