SH2n measuring low resitance

Hi,
I have a SH-2n measuring low through the jack. The red/white are tied together as they should be and it measures 4.3ohm and lowers to 3.4 ohm in center position and 15ohm on the bridge. The bridge is an SH-4. Just a minor difference when measured at the volume pots.

The SH2-n doesn't sound out of phase. The SH-4bridge is working fine. Can anyone tell me what I might be over looking ?

Re: SH2n measuring low resitance

Does the SH2 sound fine? Have you tried unsoldering the leads and checking the pickup?

Re: SH2n measuring low resitance

The SH2 sound OK but I wouldn't say it sounds full humbucker or even warm if that makes sense. Semi Hollow body and clean amp.
I have checked at the pot and there's not much difference in resistance. Less than half an ohm. The SH 4 roars .

Edited to add that I will double check that red/white wired tied together are making good connection however , I wonder if they were untied , would the pickup even work?

Assuming you are measuring between the black and green wires, if the red and white wires were not connected you would not get any reading. Are you sure that the red and white wires are not touching anything? If they are touching a ground anywhere you will get the reading that you have observed (only one coil).

You should measure each coil independently: green & red; white & black. Tell us what you get.

Someone had that cover off at one point, look at the bad solder job. I bet one coil is shorted to ground under the cover.

Test each coil the let us know what you find. If the coil ends where lead is attached come un taped it pretty easy for something to touch and short out.

The cover being removed allows for all kinds of potential issues
