hey, i am selling an epiphone '58 limited edition explorer, probably on ebay. only shipping elcewhere in UK.

i am wondering how people have shipped guitars.

i have the hard case for it which will be sold with it.

how do you package the case up??

what is the best courier??

can i have the courier collect from my house not me take it to depot??

what price would it be looking to cost??

i have looked on a few sites such as DHL and UPS but im none the wiser.

thanks,
Dave

Re: shipping a guitar in UK

I've used Parcelforce in the past to ship guitars to Scotland, Devon, Cambridge and even on to France as they have a depot close to where I work. But they will also collect from your house.

If the guitar has a case, cover the case with thick cardboard and then cover that with brown paper. Make sure there are no sharp edges or parts sticking out.

Price will depend on the weight of the item and don't forget to allow for insurance. £20-25 should do it.

I'm not saying Parcelforce are the best but I think every courier has its horror stories. PF included - they managed to loose a Yamaham accoustic I brought off ebay as the dopey van driver who collected it from the seller stuck the wrong delivery label on it. So make sure if they are collecting i had the correct details put on it

Hope this helps
