Re: Short Engl Screamer Clip

Great sound, SS! ;)

I am glad that you like your Screamer. I follow what Rocker said before: go for JJ tubes in the preamp.

I use the presence button all the time. My typical settings is:

Bass: 12 o clock
Middle: 11-3 (depending on guitar)
Treble: 11-12
Presence: 9-11

I put a Jensen C12n in there and it has a lot more bass now. I'm not sure if the V30 is bright ( I had a V80 originally), the amp is that way - it has a lot of upper midrange.

I've decided to keep it mine for a while since I can't find the amp I was planning to buy to replace it. The Screamer is good, I just want to try something else.

Thanks Marin :)

Cool, I´ll try the JJ tubes then :)

My Squire (strat) has no problems with the treble and so on..it likes the bright channel somehow. I record some simple clips with the squire..will post these later.

Nice clip!!

Your phrasing is getting crazy good!! There is a little run you do early, just kicks ass!! Is that your backing music??

Re: Short Engl Screamer Clip

dang...I thought it was going to be some chunka chunka aggro metal thing (seems like all the metalheads use engl), but it's a total smooth sophisticated rock out session. you're 19? when I was 19, I was pretending to be Kirk Hammett. You got style!

Merci!! :) I try my best..I love such music and it makes so much fun :)

Ok, so I could get some JJ tubes and the Jenson speaker to smooth and improve the tone. A T.C. G-Major (reverb or delay/echo) would take some edges, too imho. I´ll keep these things in mind..thanks guys!! You help me a lot :smokin:

Re: Short Engl Screamer Clip

sweet stuff SS I like the sound of that amp, I want to try one out now....
that with some (john spina modded) pedals and I think ill be happy (and broke)

Re: Short Engl Screamer Clip

The V-30's do record well, those uppermids mix well in music, maybe not all that pleasent on its own....but that does not matter, pretty stuff usually drowns out pretty fast:)

Ok :) I think I´ll replace the V1, V2 and V4 tubes. For V1 I´ll go with this tube V1 and for V2+V4 selected JJs. I put the V1 and V2 tubes out yesterday evening..shouldn´t be that difficult to put new tubes in. Put the tubes back in again of course..and they´re working :fingersx: No harm done hehe

I think the speaker is alright..got used to it and I even have the treble and presence both at 11 o´clock now and like it. Let´s see what new tubes can do..Rocker´s tube test was great and I think the TADs are what I´m looking for.

I think that only the V1 and V2 have any meaningful effect on the tone. The other two are for reverb and the rectifying.

Maybe your speaker needs to break in a bit.

TAD has a high-grade preamp tube, I think it's called 7025. A friend of mine swears by it, it might be worth the extra price as the V1 tube.

Re: Short Engl Screamer Clip

Some great clips posted!

Love the tones - I've tried the Screamer 50 a couple of times and really like it

I agree!

- Just listened to all of the clips... Your phrasing is very nice and fluid. I know I say this every time you post a clip but you just keep getting better!
