Should every guitarist start on an acoustic, even bound for electric?

Re: Should every guitarist start on an acoustic, even bound for electric?

Good. Hopefully you never hear it again, because its flat out wrong. You new to an electric, whether you want gain or not, use an amp and be your own worse critic. You have family or something and you have to be quiet? Get yourself some device and headphones. Trust me, get one of those little Vox amps if moneys tight , they're like 30 bux and you most likely have headphones already. All you will do is ingrain bad habits and have to go back and fix them. One and done is always easier

Oh, I get to make as much NOISE as I want to!!

I'm with Vinnie

I started on a plastic Roy Rogers 6 string

I used to play Beatles songs on it when I was Five

I sucked then too
But the lyrics were easy to remember

Even acoustics differ from each other. I have to play a parlor different from a classical and different again from a jumbo. They are truly different instruments. But all good. Worth trying all. Give your hands and your mind a workout. The broad scope of good music to be made is amazing.

That’s awful! [emoji33]

But I’m curious as to what kind of tones you were able to get out of it. I’ve never heard of using Uncle Jim as a tonewood before, especially after being beaten.

Hand hammered uncle jim. A very pulpy tone, thick like.
