Should i buy a SG, lp or a strat/tele

Re: Should i buy a SG, lp or a strat/tele

I have a LP, SG, 335, 2 Strats, a Tele and some other guitars. My advice is - go with the Tele. You can get almost all of the sounds of the other guitars with the tele except the 335.

Like the others have said, skip the 310. They're right, its a big step backwards. Use the money you'd save on either the fender MIM strat or a new amp.

Normally, I would recommend the Epi LP first, but before you do that, you're gonna want a better amp... Epi LP's are great guitars, but thru a cheap amp, it would just sound like a cheap guitar.

I played quite a few Teles before I settled on the Am Deluxe Tele. The MIM Teles are nices also. I have not made any mod on my Tele yet. Mine is the one with the SCN pickups and the S1 switch. I played lots of guitars side by side and I found this one to be the best. What amazed me is that the wide range of sounds the Tele can get. Not just the one I bought but most of the Teles with half way decent pickups can do that. This one happened to be of good quality and playability with very nice tones and so I bought it. And yes, I even played it against some Gibby LPs and it just blew them away.

Squier '51, duh

humbucker, single coil, strat, tele, coil tap, cheap, quality

Re: Should i buy a SG, lp or a strat/tele

You can't get a telecaster to sound like an SG or LP.:| An epiphone isn't a real SG or LP anyway, but a telecaster is a breed of its own. Bright and twangy.

Re: Should i buy a SG, lp or a strat/tele

except in the mid position with the tone knob rolled back

then it does a pretty good job of being in sg/lp territory, depending on pickups & fretboard material

Re: Should i buy a SG, lp or a strat/tele

I'm gonna go along with the Tele suggestion, for all of the same reasons some of my other sage brothers here have.
