Should I take my guitar to a professional?

Ok, well, I've been screwing with adjustments trying to get rid of fret rattle.

I've ended up giving it too much neck relief, and now it plays like crap below the 14th fret.

I adjusted it back, then it rattles everywhere like crazy, but plays good, and I have the bridge fairly high.

My other guitar had alot of fret rattle until i took it to have the pickups changed, and the guy said he set it up for me, and after that it played great everywhere with no fret rattle, on a $100 guitar!

Now my platium pro needs some serious help, Its a constant fight between fret rattle and playablity. Any tips on what i should do, I know i need to put more stress on the neck, until its perfectly straight, But then the strings get to high everywhere, and then if i lower the bridge down for more playability, it rattles like hell.

I know some of my other guitars went through the same limbo until i had em setup by a pro, any hints on exactly what I should do? (I prolly need my frets filed now to boot, the low 3 strings are starting to wear very small groves in the frets.)

Perfectly straight isn't really ideal, you want a little bit of relief there. However, if you're really unsure about it, I'd avoid tinkering too much with things like the truss rod and just take it to a tech.

+1 If it's one of your prized guitars, it's better to take it to a tech if you can't figure it out on your own.

Yea, I prolly better, I've tried a few times, and ended up working for 2-3 hours with little to no progress in the right direction.

I understand truss rod adjustment, Its just that I cant get it to find a happy medium, never had this problem with any other guitar.
