Show me your guitar hangers!

Re: Show me your guitar hangers!

I just use some cheap ones I got on Amazon and they're plenty strong enough. Two years now without a single failure.

I have, however, had three-year-old grandson problems with guitars dropping... but I don't consider that to be the hanger's fault.

Thanks! Lol... I've added 3 guitars since that pic was taken (4 if you count the bass I bought yesterday for the wife). I have more hangers, but I'm running out of walls!

Re: Show me your guitar hangers!

I was just wondering if anyone put up a cross beam into the studs, then hung at will. Guess not...

I do, although I don't have a worthwhile pic to show you. We've moved to a new house and I'm yet to reinstall it.

2x4, stained, mounted on the wall (studs). Three hangers on it. Looks great.

Living in L.A., I envy you guys with hangers haha. My nephew hangs his guitars despite my warning. The Hercules hangers have been great for him.

Yeah. I worry about earthquake safety before elevating anything. In all honesty between potential wall and guitar damage without additional padding, and the factor of drunk people being able to bludgeon into them with ease, I never thought hangers were a great idea. I'd rather use a sturdy stand on the ground (not just a $10 tripod) or keep things in cases.

+1 Exactly. I'm only 28, but I was 4-5 when the '94 Northridge quake (6.7?) hit. I remember the walls cracked in the apt building we lived in. Like I said, I'm jealous for sure haha. I would love to see my goldtop on the wall.

I did that for a while years ago. Spent about an hour in Home Depot trying to find an 8' kiln dried 2 X 6 that was straight. Once I found one I wrapped it in black felt and screwed it to the (Wildly unevenly spaced) studs in a non-load bearing wall. Turned out the wall wasn't straight either. I hunted down some 4" black drywall screws and screwed the felted 2 X 6 into studs then put hangers on that. As far as I know it's still there, but you'd have to hunt down whoever lives in that apartment now and ask them. The hangers were just some coated craptastic Chinese specials off of EvilBay.

For those who are concerned about falling off the wall, you can mount the hangers low enough to the floor so the end of the guitar either rests on the floor of about an inch above it.

Or over the couch...

Re: Show me your guitar hangers!

I don't. The only thing my guitars hang from is a strap around my shoulder. I store them in cases and gig bags.

If I need to put it down temporarily, it goes on a guitar stand.

Hang them low? My three grandsons are 8 months to 6 years old, so NO.

Leave them out and advertise their presence? Again, NO.
