Show me your SG's

About 5 years ago my son won an SG clone in a raffle at his school. A band was trying to raise money for a new PA so they sold raffle tickets at $5 a pop. I put a little work into it to make it playable, and it suited him fine for a few years.

I just recently decided to unload some of my guitars. I have 5 electrics, but only really play one (though most of the time now I'm playing bass).

So I asked my son if he wanted one of my guitars - he picked one he liked (my Washburn Idol). Then I traded it for his SG clone. I thought it would be a fun project guitar.

So I want to see your SG's so I can get some ideas what I can do with this clone.

Here's a picture of the guitar.

I will take all those stickers off and sand the body down to the wood. New tuning keys, and electronics. I have a JB/Jazz set I want to put in it. I already put some Graphtech saddles in - so I'm good there. I have no idea who made this guitar - but I'll probably come up with some kind of logo for the headstock.
Though I'm think of traditional Cherry Red, I'm open to suggestions on the color.
I really like the knobs - so I want to keep them.

I might keep the pickup rings - unless I go for a pickguard. But whatever I do, I'll want to work with the cream knobs.

So dazzle me with your SG goodness!

Well, I guess that's thread over :). This man perhaps ought to be bequeathed the title of "SGologist" for having such delectable specimens.

I never get tired of seeing that white Epiphone - I've said it afore and I'll say it again: there are too few white SGs. I take it that the brown one is a VOS?

okay, if what you've got in that first post there is an SG, then I'm gonna start callin Jackson Soloists and Ibanez RG's "Strats" and I'm only going to refer to Telecasters as "Gibson Les Pauls." :D jay to the kizay

......here's my Gibson SG-X sitting next to my Strat. :smokin:

You can bet if it was a thread on Les Pauls, Strats or Telecasters everyone would be up in arms.

I'm really sorry if I offended anyone. Of course it isn't an SG, it's just a body that somewhat resembles an SG. Just like some guitars look like a Fender Stratocaster but they aren't made by Fender - but in polite company, if you call it a strat, most people will know what you are talking about.

I know full well that this guitar was NOT made by Gibson. It was probably some Chinese knock-off - and not a very good one at that.

Be that as it may - all I wanted was to see what some nice looking SG's looked like, hoping to be inspired about what I could do with this little project of mine.

Again I apologize to the purists and will refrain from saying ess-gee in your presence.

But if anyone else a picture of a guitar that may or may not be an SG that they are particularly proud of, that may be able to help me with this project - I would appreciate seeing it.

Thank you

Ah. I suppose it was subject to ye olde UV rays via the window treatment ;)?

How do those three compare in terms of playability, tone etc.?
