Re: Show me....Your Ultimate Death Metal Rig !
I already showed off my personal rig, but since I am listening to music today, I was looking into common gear that I see in the heavier stuff. This is pretty much a short list of certain items I see pop up most often in heavier music. Granted, some of this is metalcore, but I view it as pretty solid for modern death metal sounds.
ESP guitars
Ibanez guitars
Charvel/Jackson guitars
EMG pickups (EMG 81, 81X, 81-7X, 85, 707)
Seymour Duncan pickups (Distortion, JB, Dimebucker, Invader)
Dimarzio pickups (X2N, Deactivator, Blaze)
Dunlop wah pedals
Maxxon OD808 overdrive
Ibanez TS808 Tubescreamer
Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier
Peavey 5150 II
Peavey 6505+
EVH 5150 III
VHT Pittbull Ultra Lead
Freyette Deliverence
Marshall JCM 800, 900, 2000
Marshall 6100 30 year anniversary head
Mesa/Boogie 2:Ninetey
Mesa/Boogie Rectifier speaker cabinets
EVH speaker cabinets
VHT Fat Bottom speaker cabinets
Marshall 1960 speaker cabinets
Celestion Vintage 30 speakers
Celestion G12H-80 speakers
Shure SM-57 microphones
Any combination of those tends to be at least able of producing some pretty solid death metal brutality. There is plenty of other gear available that can get heavy, that list is just the most common equipment I see mentioned for the brootalz...
