"Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

Re: "Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

Iron label IMO destroys Indo premiums. But need a hell of setup to even get playable.

Re: "Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

Here's another one (RG3XXV) for your viewing pleasure, if you haven't seen this cause I've posted this a few times before. It now sports purple knobs ala Jem77:

Man, you got nice Ibbs. You are a maple freak right? I'd love one as well. I got 5 electrics no maple board. it sucks

I like both rosewood and maple. I used to have all rosewood. I got maple only recently. Before I knew it, I got 4 guitars with maple boards already...ha...ha. (the other 2 is Charvel and FGN).

Re: "Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

I LOVE that first one.
Im gassing hard for an IBBY.
Are there particular superstrat type models that exclusively have 2 humbuckers? I'm not a fan of the middle pickup and the plethora of various models has m head spinning!!

I'm sure that their numbering system has a method to the madness, but I don't know what it is... and I'm not so sure I have the patience to figure it out!

I bought that one "off the rack" at my local GC several years ago... stumbled across it really. It had the V7/V8 pickups in it, which sucked IMO. Much better after putting the GFS Dream 180s in there.

Re: "Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

Have loved Ibanez since the late 70's when they still made excellent copies. I've had Musicians, Studios, Roadsters, Blazers, Destroyers, a Lee Ritenour, numerous Artists, a Ragtime (acoustic electric), various RG models, and more. I'm talking guitars and basses. Right now I own a Paul Gilbert Mikro, an Ibanez AS-73, a GAX-50, and an early 80's Bob Weir I am slowly rebuilding. Ibanez is good ****, and I love the stuff.

Same here; had a Musician 500 back in the late 90s and it was a cool guitar. Had a couple Artists as well and plan on picking one up next year if all goes well.

Re: "Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

My current and only Ibanez is a limited edition Ibanez RG870RWZ, fitted with a SD PATB set, and modded with a push-pull pot for series/parallel switch on the neck pickup.

Been eyeing the Iron Label seven strings, either the RGAIX7FM or the FRIX7FEAH would be worthy additions to my roster.

Re: "Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

I'm looking at the opposite end of the economic spectrum, but I love IBAs-

I desperately want a Roadcore 365 thinline with a Talman thinline neck. I have 3 crazy pickup and switching configs and I want to compare by swapping out pick guards.

Haven't figured out how to get the neck + body aspect worked out yet, but here's an awesome vid of a stock RC in action.

Re: "Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

That is some beautiful wood! Cool mods as well.

Thanks, muttznmongrelz. Stock pickups were a set of DiMarzio/Ibz, but I really don't gel with DiMarzios, so in came the SD. Though not only in what pickups would siut the guitar sonically, but also make a modern statement on a nature-showing, wood-looking instrument. Didn't come out too bad, I think...

I have a couple of Ibanez partscasters both have Warmoth necks - the first one has a Strat boat neck and the other a Tele neck with an ebony board. These guitars have an Alt 8, a Norton, a Tone Zone and a Liqui fire fitted. Needless to say, they both sound great! And the trem is blocked on both guitars btw!

A lot of sweet guitars and I'm loving seeing/hearing how others have modded theirs or built out some projects.

That thing is teets man!! Love it! I know they are technically called an RG3XXV, but out of habit, I always call them a 565. My buddy has the Lazer Red one, but I prefer the Lazer Blue like yours. I also like the original 565's in Emerald Green as well.

Lots of nice guitars guys! Great thread Muttznmongrelz!

Re: "Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

S420 stock except for Parallel Axis pups, a PATB-1 in theneck and a PATB-2 at the bridge. I have a Crazy 8 that I go back and forth on dropping in, but I like these really really well and the control cavity is a nightmare to work in so I've never done it. Maybe one day....

I spent about three years looking for one of these and finally found one on GC's used site and when I saw it had the old SD Active EQ pups in it I had to have it. This may well be the ultimate late 80's / early 90's metal bass. Running into my Hartke LH-1000 / Hartke 4.5 XL cab it is all sorts of thrashy goodness.

About two days after I put in my order for the EX, this TR showed up on Craigslist locally so I thought "Why not?" and went to look at it and grabbed it. Of all my basses, this one has the warmest tone oddly enough. The perfect combination of warmth and "Looseness" for lack of a better term, for a mellow sounding bass. On a lark I took it to church one time and got more tone compliments on this than any other bass. Folks sure looked sidelong at it at first though, a "Pointy" bass just looks wildly out of place playing "Amazing Grace" but it sounds so right. Everything is bone stock on it to my knowledge.

That's the extent of my Ibanez collection and it'll likely stay that way.

[ETA] Those basses are the same headstocks in my avatar/profile pic

Oh, yeah - I had an ARX awhile back, too. Ibanez has pretty much been a constant in my stable of stuff.

Re: "Show Some Ibanez Love" Thread

Better pic as I hadn't been able to really get a good one...

Since I picked up my AR325, I've caught myself several times going online and checking out the ARZs. I tend to think of the AR series as Ibanez' answer to the doublecut Les Paul, does the ARZ measure up as well? I've never had an opportunity to play one.
