Show Your Guitars That You've Stained/Painted/Finished/Refinished

Re: Show Your Guitars That You've Stained/Painted/Finished/Refinished

what pup is in the bridge?

It's a Custom/59 as Kam said. It's a little unique in that it was made in the SD shop as a Floor Shop Custom or Custom Floor Shop model or whatever they call it, at least a couple of years before the C/59 became a production model. I was going to build my own C/59 hybrid but this one became available here in the Trading Post so I bought it.

I can't even remember which way I've orientated it (i.e. which coil is closest to the bridge). It sounds great, although sometimes i suspect there is a little bit missing due to not having slugs, and at some stage i plan to try the more standard screw/slug version.

The cover was a standard SD humbucker model and i drilled the extra six holes into it.

Man, I keep forgetting how cool that Crusty LP is.

Is that ash? Good thing the wood has beautiful grain.

It's actually soft maple! And yeah, I could see thru the old finish that it had some nice looking grain. It's got a little bit of a natural quilt going on. Looks great in the sun.

Crusty wins by default. Just an amazing job on that LP. He was a huge help when I painted my SG Jr kit. When I did it, I decided to go with the Faded style finish and used car paint.

I also finished my Frankenstrat back in '93 in clear polyurethane. A couple coats did the trick.

Pics make it look better than it really is. It's been played a lot.

I know there's got to be more than just these.

Faded cherry V, previous owner stripped the satin cherry off and rubbed about 9 coats of tung oil onto it.

I have an Ibanez 321MH I want to sand down and do a purple burst on but I don't have teh first ****ing clue as to how to do that.

Re: Show Your Guitars That You've Stained/Painted/Finished/Refinished

I loaned my CN250 to a family member and got it back "stained" with grime and "refinished" in beer. Does that count? Now where did I put that can of Krylon lacquer?

@ItsaBass: That is a *great* looking tele body, but the neck looks a little rough...
