Hi everybody!
This is my first post here, I read your interesting discussions about pickups sometime and now also for me it's time to post!
I have a Jackson USA Soloist S-1 (HSS, alder body with maple neckthru neck and thin top) that I use to play mainly prog metal stuff.
I've to find the right NECK pickup, position that I use for almost all the shred parts.
I've tried the little 59 but isn't absolutelly what I was searching for... I need a pickup that sounds very very close (if not "like") an humbucker... the little 59 is like a powerfull single coil with more mid-bass frequencies but still too much treeb and not enought output. Nice tone but veeeeery far from the one of a real humbucker. :smack:
I was thinking to the following options:
- SD Hot Rails
- DiMarzio Pro Track
- DiMarzio FastTrack-II
- DiMarzio ToneZone-S
What do you suggest me and why?
I need a tone similar to the Petrucci, Vai (etc.) leads in the shred parts (or something like that).
High output, warm and round but stil articulate tone.
Thankyou guys! :burnout:
