Hey guys. Hope your doing well. Just a question here. If you could build a signature guitar what model would it be and what would you have on it? Thanks guys. :eyecrazy:

Re: Signature Guitar Dream

Maybe 31 frets, neck through and a graphic that covers the entire thing including the fingerboard. :cool2:

Re: Signature Guitar Dream

Alder strat, candy apple red, white pickups, chrome knobs, black guard, contoured neck heel and micro tilt.
Maple neck and board, 22 6100 stainless steel frets, 9.5 radius, split post vintage style tuners.
Fender custom 69 neck and middle, texas special bridge. No load tone control wired to bridge and middle, neck pickup has it's own tone, master volume. Push pull pot for out of phase between position tones.
Full Callaham Strat whammy bridge.

Re: Signature Guitar Dream

It would look a lot like this. Except with HH config, 24 frets, a Floyd Rose, a no load master tone, and a soft V-shaped neck.

Mine would be a Telecaster.

SD Quarter Pounder bridge, chrome covered mini-hum neck, secret P90 middle under the pickguard. The hidden P90 would be on a blender pot.

Master Volume down by the jack, Blender Pot for P90 closer to the neck, Master Tone even closer to the neck, and a regular 3 way Top Hat. I love having MV down by the jack, makes more sense to me and easier for me to locate without looking.

Mahogany body for warmth.

Maple neck with a 25" scale. HUGE baseball bat profile. Ebony fretboard for the snap of maple and the aesthetics of rosewood. Clay dots. Giant frets, 12" radius.

Reverse Inline 6 headstock because the string tension that way feels better to me, and it makes more sense, I think.

Toploader bridge for decreased string tension.

I am actually trying to build this guitar. I started a long time ago then I had kids and kind of froze the project.

Here is a picture or 2:

It's crazy loud unplugged.

Re: Signature Guitar Dream

My dream sig guitar would be approximately like this pic.. I recently decided to spec out a body and neck .. just to have a visual representation
a few notes.. The hardware in the pic is just for show..

---The hardware will be all gold as represented or a mix of gold and black hardware
---the tremolo will be the lopro version and will be gold OR gold base and black saddles or visa versa
---The pickup selector will be an LP style toggle
---the input jack will be strat styled

As is customary in all my guitars
---Volume push/pull. Pull is the volume.. push is volume bypass.. YES I know I have it backwards to what is the norm..
and
---kill switch

---Bridge Pickup will be a clone of the pickup in my jackson.. 79' Ttop but have 4 wires and possibly wrapped a few more times..with gold holeless covers.. covers will be engraved.. havent decided what..
---series/split/parallel switch for each pickup
---possible phase for one of the pickups
---NO TONE CONTROL

not going place an order anytime soon.. just was bored..Probably wont go with the 'Unique choice' on the wood in any case. that would cut 26% of the cost of the body:).. Im hoping to make it happen next year though

50's relic black fender strat, white pickguard, 3x SD blackouts. :-)

Re: Signature Guitar Dream

Basically a Schecter Hellraiser C1 (color/shape/general specs) with a poplar body and maple neck (keep the flame maple cap), invader bridge pup maybe (not sure), no neck pickup.

Re: Signature Guitar Dream

I'd start off with the custom warmoth neck I had made back in 91 for my RG570. I'd make a bolt on and neck thru to see which I like better. The access to the upper frets has to be butter. It would be a modified super strat shape. I'd like to make my own floating tremolo like Petrucci did with his music man guitars. No locking nut, locking tuners. The pickups would be custom shop Duncans direct mounted humbucker in the bridge and stacked single coil in the neck. Mahogany body/wings with maple neck and board. I'd probably experiment with different combinations though.

Re: Signature Guitar Dream

Eighty-twelve frets, two necks running through each other, all the pickups, and a mirrored surface that is actually billions of tiny OLED devices that are both cameras and displays, so when you look at it, all you see is yourself looking back. Oh, yeah -- it would have a cool inlay or something on the 19th fret. Probably Evan Handler's face done in five different colors of jade.

Re: Signature Guitar Dream

Whatever yours is, life is too short not to build it. Vet out your ideas first in case a few don't work together, but it seems here most have their "attainable" dream guitar.

Re: Signature Guitar Dream

an SG supra with a black sparkle finish, matching headstock and the globe on the headstock is now cubic. 59' in the neck and PG in the bridge, gold hardware all around.
hope gibson will call me soon in the future...

Re: Signature Guitar Dream

Today?
Mahogany thinline tele, broadcaster bridge, jazz neck.

Tomorrow it could be something entirely different.

Agreed. "Custom" guitars aren't as expensive as they used to be.

Also, a big x2 on vetting ideas first. The neck heel of my homebuild is atrocious, for example. That kind of thing doesn't present itself unless you're doing a custom shape you drew on a cereal box, though.

Re: Signature Guitar Dream

Been thinking about my signature guitar idea. I'll go with a Gibson Les Paul. Seymour Duncan duncan custom in the bridge with a 59 in the neck. My neck would be like the neck on the access model and my finish in tobacco sunburst like Joe Perry's model. Max grip knobs with a phase inverse push/pull knob on the neck pickup. Grover locking tuners with a brass nut.
