single 12" combo -- need a gig machine

Re: single 12" combo -- need a gig machine

6x12 fits fine in my compact sedan, if thats whats got you worried.... And by compact, I mean several inches shorter than a Corolla.

Are 2x12s out by default for whatever reason? Lotsa goodies there

I was playing through an Ampeg VT-22 for years.
I've got a Peavey Classic 50-410 now, and it's killer for my sound. I haul it out for my larger jobs.
I need something that won't threaten hernias and hemorrhoids every time I load in for a small gig or practice.

Gotta call Hot Rod Deluxe here....

Althought the aforementioned Blackstar's are pretty awesome.

Second the Peavey Classic 30, especially since you're playing the 50 already, unless of course you are looking for something a little different from what you have. Even a good 'ol Classic 20 if you can find one!

A deluxe reverb. And your overdrive of choice but for 500 it's gonna be tough. You might want to look at a Peavey classic 30. Used I've seen them for around 300$. They have 2 channels and sound really good. Basically a modern Fender effects loop channel switching. I don't really understand why these never really caught on. They are a really good sounding amp and they are readonable

Mesa 5:50... 1x12, light as anything and with the contour knob you can get some serious half stack power/chunk

Takes dirt pedals like a champ too!

If you can bump your price range to $600, that opens up a bunch of options...

Marshall DSL15C
Vox AC15
Blackstar HT Studio 20
Blackstar ID:60TVP
Egnater Tweaker 15

the laney cub 12" combo is $337 new on amazon.com ... I gotta save up tho, it would need a new speaker too

I'm pretty darned impressed with this Vox Bruno 1x12 I snagged off eBay for 599. Foot switch. " macho" mode boost. Master volume bypass switch. Good tube reverb. It's a rock and roll beast. 4. 6V6's in it. Solid state rectifier. 4 12AX7 and 1 12AT7.

Quite heavy.

A Deluxe Reverb is what I use. With a Celestion G12H30 speaker.

But for $500? Ain't gonna happen.

I can't think of anything for $500 that would be good enough for you!

Part of me wants to vote for this.

But, if price is a concern, then my money goes for the superlite ii which leaves you $200 for the cab/speaker to come under your $500 limit.

I've got the "baby will" (same thing without the preamp gain control and the treble/middle/bass) which is even cheaper and through a celestion vintage 30 it can blow doors off. I don't know if the speaker is super efficient or what, but it moves air for being only 18 watts.
