I didn't, bought it from a USA Ebay store, and a friend of mine, who was married to an american citizen back then brought it here. The shipping and pickup price would still be cheaper that buying a black one here, but our Customs fees are outrageous.

This is interesting. Since I'm the OP, I guess I can hijack my own thread. So, just for the sake of argument, suppose I was a Duncan dealer. Couldn't you folks in Europe PM me? I'd have the pup immediately, and mail it to you. Would that be illegal? Or against company policy? Inquiring minds want to know.

These days the point is moot, though, since you have large companies like Thomann and Musik-Produktiv selling to all of Europe. At present, Thomann has 437 SD products in their digital catalogue, so I guess you could get most things from them.
I am not going to name any names, but I have dealt with companies in the US dealers shipping to Europe in the past, and probably against their own agreements. (I've done this with OFRs, which were very difficult to find in Europe ten-odd years back) It is also possible to establish a US post box with a shipping company, and have them forward the item. In such cases, I am sure that the dealer has no responsibility for what happens to the item after it has been delivered to a US address.

On the aforementioned delay concerning the blue Invader set I ordered back then, I was still a newbie to all this gear stuff, so I guess it would be like some custom ordered or something. Still, every time I checked with the distributor I was told things were on their way. Something must have happened later on, since Portugal lost any official representation, and the distribution deal must have changed, since now Spain deals SD pickups for the Iberian peninsula (region in the west of Europe, where Portugal and Spain are located.
On topic, have you found a single HB axe to your liking yet?

Yep, that's about it nowadays. That's why whenever I want something I have friends scattered around the world that get the things I want for me, and when they travel back to Portugal, they deliver the goods. Not to brag, but my friends rule!

My original idea was to have a dedicated El Diablo axe. But as much as I love the guitars that folks have posted, I've about decided to go HH. I'd love to do a Fuglybucker in the neck.

I know Im late to the party... But I bring back the suggestion for Kramer Baretta or a Focus 1000 (Japanese made by ESP) or a BC Rich Gunslinger. I had both a Custom shop a few years back and one of the cheap Reissue models. It was cool too and not too pricey.
Here is a Focus 1000 for under $300. The floyd is going to need some love, but.. Id love to snag this myself.. Again, japanese made, orig floyd rose..

While that is a cool guitar, I'm a bit finicky about certain headstock designs. Mainly, I hate when the strings are skewed at too steep of an angle from the nut. I just like when the strings have as straight of a pull as possible. The exception is that I do like a headstock that's tilted back, to get a nice break angle on the nut.
It's one of the reasons I hate Dean guitars, even though I like their designs otherwise. I think this is one of the worst headstocks I've ever seen:
