Single coils for mustang

Im chasing a a nice warm vintage tone thats slightly hot but not too bright or trebly for my mustang. Ill be using the mustang for various clean to slightly crunchy settings.
Looking at APS's for bridge or SSL-1 or SSL-3 for neck to have some versatility. SSL-1 might be too trebly i think.
Any thoughts? Anyone tried APS and SSL combo's?

Will Strat pickups fit a Mustang? Seymour makes some pickups specifically for mustangs, which i assume he wouldn't have done if strat pups fit...

I think they only make Antiquities for Mustang, and they look to be the same size as the Antiquities for Strat. What wood is it made of?

Re: Single coils for mustang

The dimensions of Mustang and Stratocasters are pretty much the same EXCEPT that the Mustang has equal height polepieces, flush with the fibreboard bobbin, so that it fits under a closed plastic cover.

I would dearly like to recommend SD Five-Two pickups for Stratocaster but these only come with staggered height magnets.

Instead, I suggest that you investigate the AGI Lace Sensor pickup range. These will be noise-cancelling, preserve the covered PU look and are available in degrees of "hotness" to suit your tonal requirements.

I have a mustang and a duo-sonic and the SSL-5 & SSL-6 work really well in short scale guitars.
