Single or 4 conductor SH-1n '59 pickup?

Hi,

I bought a Washburn N2 Nuno Battencourt and it came with Bill Lawrence L500 humbucker at bridge and a stock washburn 621 humbucker at neck. This guitar has 1 push/pull volume pot and a 3 way switch. With the push/pull vol pot and 3 way switch, I can make the neck/bridge humbucker as a single coil.

Im thinking of replacing the neck humbucker to Seymour Duncan SH-1 '59 neck.

Ok. My question is, which SH-1n '59 humbucker should I get, a single or a 4 conductor SH-1n '59 humbucker. The 4 conductor SH-1n is more expensive though.

Here what I found on ebay:
1) Seymour Duncan SH-1n 59 Model Humbucker 4 Conductor NEW - US81.95 ( http://www.ebay.com.my/viItem?ItemId=110041145691 )
2) Seymour Duncan SH-1n '59 Humbucker Pickup Black - NEW! - US69.95 ( http://www.ebay.com.my/viItem?ItemId=110042352039 )

Thanks.

You'll need the 4 conductor if you wish to split the neck. Contact Bada Bing! here on the forum. I don't think that a 4 conductor pickup is that more expensive than a single.

Re: Single or 4 conductor SH-1n '59 pickup?

Thanks Benjy.

I surfed Bada Bing website, for the '59 neck SD pups, single conductor is still 10 bucks cheaper dan the 4 conductors pickup. However a '59 trembucker 4 conductor price is the same as the single conductor SH-1 '59, but at least Bada Bing's price is slightly less than the ebay price.

But I wonder why the 10 bucks difference for the '59 (only for the '59)... hmmmm.

I find the four-conductor models easier to solder than the single-conductor ones with the vintage-style braided shield. :)

Re: Single or 4 conductor SH-1n '59 pickup?

Are you able to split the humbucker to single with the single braided shield?

Re: Single or 4 conductor SH-1n '59 pickup?

The price of trembucker '59 (4 conductor) is the same as the SH-1n '59 single braided wiring. Whereas the 4 conductor SH-1n '59 costs 10 bucks more... :disappoin :scratchch

Whatever you want to get. I personally dont think split coils sound all that pleasing to my ears so, I could care less about 4-wire pickups. That is just me though. I would actually recomend buying them off of one of our own on this forum. Bada Bing runs a webstore and also has some listed on Ebay,
