Slash bridge neck pickups mislabeled?

I recently purchased a set of slash pickups and after installing them noticed the neck seems hotter than the bridge , after checking with a multi meter meter the neck pickup was reading 8.8k and the bridge was reading 8.4k I took them out of the guitar to confirm and yes the neck pickup reads hotter than the bridge . Is there anyway the stickers on the baseplate were put on backward? Any way to tell which one is actually the bridge? I would put the hotter pickup I the bridge but I don’t know if it’s goinf to aouns like the actual pickup should .

Re: Slash bridge neck pickups mislabeled?

Site shows bridge should be 8.9k and neck should be 8.3k. Just put the 8.8k in the bridge and the 8.4k in the neck. Need to see photos of the baseplates to tell any further what's going on.

Re: Slash bridge neck pickups mislabeled?

To be honest, a .4 difference isn't something I can hear, or something that can't be balanced with pickup height. Strange that they are off, though.

Re: Slash bridge neck pickups mislabeled?

through a clean amp, i bet you could hear .4k difference

Re: Slash bridge neck pickups mislabeled?

I’m just wondering if it’s just a case of mislabeling or is it something else , you can tell the difference . Remember they are each off . 4K so really it’s compounded

one is 8.8k one is 8.4k, there is only 0.4k difference. swap em around and you should be fine. measure the spacing and i suspect the stickers are just on the wrong pups. if its a slash set, one should be zebra, one reverse zebra. the neck pup typically has a cream screw coil, bridge pup cream stud coil. it is possible that someone custom ordered them different though

Re: Slash bridge neck pickups mislabeled?

Agreed, I would just swap them around. There's a small chance they were mislabeled. That said, also double-check your pickup heights...the neck gets a much stronger signal to begin with simply because of its position.

Re: Slash bridge neck pickups mislabeled?

thats true. on my lp the neck pup is barely flush with the top of the ring while the bridge pup is significantly above the top of the ring but with the neck being hotter than the bridge it can make balancing with heights really hard. my traditional has a 8.3k neck pup and 7.8k bridge and while i can get the volumes to match, the tone difference is too much for my taste. some people really like to have a big difference, not me.

Re: Slash bridge neck pickups mislabeled?

Given those DCR readings you can be confident they were simply mislabeled. Not a common occurrence but it isn't unheard-of.

I seem to remember someone else having a Slash set where the stickers were reversed.
