Slash's Derrig - 50's or Modern??

Would anyone happen to know (for certain) how Slash's Derrig is wired? I can see in Seymour's video that the neck pickup is wired 50's style, but at no point in the video can you see how the bridge pickup is wired. It's my guess that it's wired the same as the neck pickup, but rather than assume, I would really like to know for certain.

Thanks in advance-

Re: Slash's Derrig - 50's or Modern??

I spent last weekend watching Made in Stoke and saw how beautiful some of his pickup selections were, particularly the middle, as well as rolled down bridge and neck.

I don't have an answer for you, but it's probably what you suspect.

That video really made me want a Slash Neck Model in a few of my LP's. As for the bridge, I'd go for something beefier. A C/59 Hybrid and Slash Neck is something I want to try in one of my LP's.

Well, if TONE is wired '50 style or not will also depend on if volumes are wired dependent or independent. Watch out!.
:cool2:

Didn't see the video. Where the pickup output is wired to, extreme or center lug in volume pot?. Or where the switch input is wired to?.

Re: Slash's Derrig - 50's or Modern??

I've got a Slash Neck in my RG770DXRR and I am impressed, poss moreso than I was with a Pearly Gates Neck Model. Great sounding pickup IMHO.

Re: Slash's Derrig - 50's or Modern??

I couldn't remember from seeing the inside of the Derrig last time it was in our shop. So I asked Slash's 'Ace' guitar tech, Ace Bergman, and here's what he said:

Hello Evan! Good to hear from you. It's been a year since I opened the electronics cavity on the Derrig but I am pretty sure both pickups are wired 50's style. I have a photo of the cavity in my A rig I will see later today and I will let you know if I am wrong. If it is good enough I will send it to you. Hope this helps!

If you're reading this thread, Ace, thanks so much. This is very helpful. Feel free to stop in here anytime. And give my best to Slash.

Wow - thank you, Evan!

No rush - I'll just be sitting here on my couch... with my laptop...... refreshing my screen every 2 minutes...... waiting for you to post that photo.:fingersx:

Ask and ye shall receive.

From Ace:

Hey Evan, I took this photo about a year ago while we were working on the Derrig. It has since been rewired when we replaced the pickups, but with the same components and in the same pattern.

Re: Slash's Derrig - 50's or Modern??

This is so cool! I remember being a teenager, and loving that guitar. I never thought that I'd actually get to take a look inside of it.

Evan, I know that Ace is the one that took the pics, but that's beside the point. Thank you for taking the time to ask him, and for sharing it with us. This really is the best place on the internet!

Really?? Tell me more! Ive always had the feeling you and I share similar tastes in tone. Ive been curious about the slash pups since they came out, but been afraid to plunk down the Dough for em as my cash flow is very limited right now. I like the AIIp and I love th PG set I have in my LP right now.. what would you say impresses you about it?

Re: Slash's Derrig - 50's or Modern??

Yes indeed, Thanks Evan!

And just as I suspected...50's, independent wiring.

Re: Slash's Derrig - 50's or Modern??

Very cool of Ace to send that and share it. That's awesome.

I have a Slash neck paired with a Screamin' Demon in my Frankenstrat. To those who have not tried the Slash, do it and do it now. You will not be sorry. It is probably the best sounding and feeling neck pickup I have ever used.
