SLAYER question: What pickups were used by Kerry and Jeff on 'Reign in Blood'???????

I have seen photos of some of their BC Rich guitars, and they seem to be Dimarzio Super D's, BUT Jeff said that he has used Duncans, and his Les paul has a X2N....

As a Slayer fan, I can definatley say that as soon as they went active, they LOST thier agressive tone.

Info please people????? I can't find anything googling :scratchch :cool2:

Kerry used a DMZ MEGADRIVE and not sure what jeff used before EMG?

Agreed, EMG's are LAME compared to a good passive.

Kerry used a DMZ MEGADRIVE and not sure what jeff used before EMG?

My brother has a poster showing he used the Dimarzio Megadrive from South of heaven onwards, and as I like the rhythm tone of that album, I bought one and used it on my second album.

But its Reign In Blood guitar sound that I really like!!!! What's on their guitars for that period??? Any photos????:scratchch

i wouldnt be worried about what pickups they used if i were you......i'd want to know what AMPS they used on that album. Amps make way bigger effect on tone than the pickups do IMO

From the Marshall Forum:
On that album he played ESP guitars with Dimarzio Mega Drive humbuckers, a crybaby, a Boss 10 band EQ (boosted mids) noise gate, 2203. Pretty simple setup, great sound. Marshall cabs with G12/V30

Jeff said he retired his LP right before they recorded that album because it was "beat to sh*t"

Kerry didnt switch to B.C. Rich and Super D's until later (after they recorded 'reign')

They have been using the Marshall 2203 JCM800 since the begining, loaded with 6550 power tubes, a beam tube which is slopier than an EL34. About 11 years ago I played a 2203 that must have been moded with extra drive, and it absolutely annihilated my then JCM 900 4100!!!!

Right, Kerry was playing BC Rich before ESP and I recall it was right around the Seasons in the Abyss album when that ESP endorsement happened.

But you weren't even born when Reign in Blood was recorded in 1986. You're basing your answer on wrong info from other forums. This answer of yours reminds me of the idiots that thought the 100th anniversary of the Titanic ship sinking, was impossible since the movie wasn't that old and they were clueless that the Titanic movie was based on a real event.

I never said if it was true or false, i simply stated what I saw on 3 other forums. and how do you know i wasnt born when reign in blood was recorded. I could 60 years old for all you know

I'ts all cool dude. I know that those forums are wrong, so I was hoping a Slayer freak, like myself, might actually the correct answer.

I have a Kerry King interview from a Guitar world mag where he talks about his red BC Rich mocking bird that was used on the first three releases (SNM, HTC, HA) which has a Super Distortion. Then Jeff talks about the Lesp Paul which he says it had a "Duncan Distortion or somthing" but in the photo of the Les Paul is a Dimarzio X2N. But they used DIFFERENT BC Riches by RIB, Kerry using Warlocks, and Jeff using BC *****es. Now the photos I have of the Warlock looks to me Dimarzio's with black hex screws, they can't be Super Distortions, Could it be a Super 3 or Evolutions??? As for Jeff, none of the photos I have ever show pickups close enough.

Though listening to RIB, A-B left to right, noticing sharper sounding rhthym guitar which I beleive is Jeffs then sound, but I could be wrong, is my favourite rhythm sound, like Duncan distortion kind of, I'd like to really know what it is!!!!!:banghead:
