Slow Doomy metal, Egyptian type thingummy

This is the only real "song" I've ever written, in the sense that it's the one I really remember. I've had it in mind for a couple of years now, this version is probably nearly a year old but I'd like to share it. I'm going to change it again when I have time, but I'm quite pleased with it as it is.
I wouldn't mind doing a spoken word type thing in the middle, although I'm not sure a thick Glasgow accent is gonna work....

Anyway, tips on recording or how to get a better tone or whatever are most welcome.

I got the idea for the main riff from the very first song on Malmsteen's "Rising Force" album, and then developed it after hearing a guy called Eric Kauschen do something similar. I later found out he'd based it on Malmsteen's song too.

I believe I recorded this using my Jackson RR3, with Seymour Duncan Blackouts, and a cheap bass I have

Anyone? I know it's a bit samey, needs something to break it up - maybe a spoken word Egyptian prayer or something? Any ideas?

still seems more metal than doom to me

try rocking the neck pickup & droning the 6th string with other notes/chords more

Thanks for the comment - I don't listen to doom so I'm glad it sounds more like metal. :) I don't think it sounds like normal metal so I thought I'd better tag it something a bit different. ;)

I'll take your comment about the 6th string on board though, I'm going to work on this once I get a bit of time and your idea is a good one, so thanks again. :headbang:

Cool riff man and I like the solo too. I would put a low cut filter on that kick drum at say 40hz and also an eq cut at about 320hz on the kick, it's way boomy. You could turn it down too.
