SM1-b in middle position of HHH setup

Hi all,

I'm putting together a partscaster which is gonna feature a HHH setup.
I've got all the parts in, and found out that the shop sent me one SM1-n mini humbucker, and one SM1-b mini humbucker.

The plan was to put a SM1-n mini in the neck and middle position, and then have a lil '59 for tele in the bridge.
I know the output difference between the SM1's and the lil '59 might seem a bit steep, but a buddy of mine runs the same setup and it sounds great to me.

Now I was wondering if having the SM1-b in the middle position, as opposed to a second SM1-n, would work well?
Since it has a higher output than the SM1-n.
Here are the DCR outputs taken from the seymourduncan site:

SM1-n: 6.3k
SM1-b: 7.4k
lil '59: 17.7k

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers,
Josh

Welcome to the forum!

Yes, that will work. My HHH Strat has Seth/Ant hybrid 7.5k, bridge Phat Cat 8.5k, and JB 17k.

I would think it would work, too. The high DCR of the Little 59 isn't quite like a DCR of a full size humbucker...it isn't quite that loud at all.

Thanks for the replies guys, I'll throw em in and let you know what the results are.

The SM1-b actually is a good idea for the middle. The slightly higher output will allow you to lower it a bit which gets it more out of the way. A middle pup being close to the strings where my pick constantly hits it is one of my pet peeves.
