SMB-4D into a Fender Jaguar Bass

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone here could help me. I'm planning on installing a SMB-4D humbucker in the bridge position of my Fender Jag bass and can't figure out how to wire the pickup so that the series / parallel switch on the bass is still functional. Any advice would be appreciated as I'm pretty new to electrical work.

Heres a link to the Jag wiring diagram.

Thanks

welcome to the forum!!

which switch is the series/parallel switch?
they all look like dp/dt switches which means it should be easy enough to do.

are you looking to put the two coils of the bridge pup in series/parallel or the neck and bridge pups?

Re: SMB-4D into a Fender Jaguar Bass

Sorry I should have clarified that. The series/parallel switch is the bottom dp/dt of the three at the upper right in the diagram. The other 2 are on / off switches for the pickups. I'd really like to use the neck and the bridge pickup with the switch. Thanks.

Re: SMB-4D into a Fender Jaguar Bass

Somebody asked about Jaquar bass wiring a couple of months ago. The series/parallel looks like it is used for series/parallel for both pickups since they are single coils. Do you want the two pickups to be series/parallel or do you want the SMB-4D to be series parallel with itself?

Re: SMB-4D into a Fender Jaguar Bass

I'd be happy with being able to swich between series and parallel on the SMB-4D.

Take a look at this diagram http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/schematics.php?schematic=1h_1v_sp it shows a series/parallel push/pull pot for the volume. If the wiring is code is the same for the bass pickups, you could just connect the hot and ground wires from the upper horn series/parallel switch to the bottom two terminals on the push pull pot. The ground would be the green terminal and the hot would be the black terminal.

Sorry to bump this but I have one last question. Insted of a push/pull switch for series/parallel I'm wanting to split the humbucker to get a sound more simiar to the stock bass if i want. I also want to keep the humbucker wired in parallel. I found the diagram but I can't determine which leads are the hot and the ground to attach to the on/off and series/parallel switches.

Thanks.

the black is hot and green is ground in that pic.

parallel/split will be a little tricky. ill have to think about it

Re: SMB-4D into a Fender Jaguar Bass

Thanks. What I meant was to wire the humbucker in parallel while using a push/pull pot to split it and and then use the stock switch to go series/parallel with the neck pickup.
