For years, I played in a blues rock band The Kinship, which featured Mike Mangan on Hammond who went on to be a virtuoso solo artist B3 player.
Since then, I've always wanted to cop the perfect Hammond/Leslie sound, and up till now have relied on my Fulltone Choralflange to supply a pseudo Leslie effect.
Last night, I went into a local GC and was amazed to find a used Strymon Lex for only $199. Yeah, a bit of money but they sell for $300 plus, and are on a waiting list. I demoed it and realized it's the best one I've ever heard. It's like the H&K Rotosphere with more tweakability, and way cheaper.
So, I went back today and gave them $200 out the door for this magnificent rotary speaker/vibey/Leslie pedal by one of the leading pedal makers Strymon.
It's on a Police hold for another 5 days, so I was bummed to leave the store without it, but I'll have it on Wednesday. 2012 has been a year of pedal jonesin, and I've gotten a good number of exciting new pedals this year. I'm satisfied with my guitars, amps, and pickups, so I guess it's time to explore pedals. But this rotary thing is something that's always eluded me, and this is the new industry standard rotary pedal. I can't wait to have this sucker on the board.
