But I wouldn't be surprised to notice a wider dynamic range (spikier transients) with ceramic, due to higher Gauss levels and less Foucault currents.
Reading again this it reminds me of my experience with G&L jumbo MFD pickups, once in my Asat : I've never come along well with them, and that's exactly what they show, a wider dynamic range, a broader freq span , but definitely stiff pickups to play, I'd say even difficult, lot of volume but made of surgical steel, and they have a strong ceramic mag, I can't say they were compressed but the effect of this wider range were surely compressed in the pedal amp chain.
(I solved my problem putting two standard jaguar pickups in place of the MFDs)
