It's not actually modeling as far as far as it fakes a mesa, a fender or a marshall etc. it's all blackstar sounds but what it models are various tubes which is actually a cool take on things. Seems like it would be loads of fun to have around since there's bound to be some good tones in there with the truckloads of tonal tweaking options it has.

I don't like it. Yes the valve type simulation is cool and it sounds ok in the video, but I was quite content with what Blackstar already offered. This is a more affordable range, and when a manufacturer introduces a more affordable range, they drive up the prices of the other models. You will most certainly see the HT, Series One and Artisan amps jump in price to make room for the lower range.
I don't like it. Yes the valve type simulation is cool and it sounds ok in the video, but I was quite content with what Blackstar already offered. This is a more affordable range, and when a manufacturer introduces a more affordable range, they drive up the prices of the other models. I just got rid of my Peavey Vypyr and I can say that modeling amps are like Swiss Army knives, they do a lot kinda good but doesn't do anything great. There is tons of options with them (Vypyr, Line6) but it never worked out for me. The nail in the coffin with mine was the digital background noise that drove me nucking futs. Maybe the Blackstars are different...

Their faults become apparent in a band mix as well. You just can't dial in those juicy, cutting mids in a live mix with a modeler.

When I use this amp I don't have any problems! I've had mine since it's inception...An awesome amp actually!

Funny this . . .
. . . when i 1st heard that they have clipping diodes in their cheaper amps, i KNEW (even back then) that they will one day bring out moddeling amps.
I just had that very strong feeling that THIS is the type of Co that will go that route

If there is money to be made in selling that kind of product, I'm not sure why they wouldnt.
