So do I start a bidding war?

Re: So do I start a bidding war?

SG classic

+1, Juniors are cool but not for that price...

Thats a lot of money for a 1991 guitar. You could buy an aftermarket p90 pickguard and mod a normal SG to be p90's for about the same $

I think the price I won the 2nd auction at is a steal with shipping it was $573.50

To everyone that is comparing this SG Junior to a SG Classic I understand where the advice is coming from and thought really hard about picking up a SG Classic and converting to a Jr. style guitar but I had four issues that kept me from going that route…
1) The SG Junior reissue is lighter than a Classic, which I need.

2) The SG Junior reissue has the 60’s profile neck not the 50’s that the Classic has and that throws me off as to why Gibson would make a SG Inspired by the 1960s SG Special with the older 50’s neck profile in the first place. Unless they hadn’t changed profiles yet.???

3) I didn’t want to deal with the 3 extra holes I’d have in the guitar that would go unused. (The Volume and Tone pot holes for the neck pickup and the pickup selector switch hole.)

4) I like the look of the ½ pickguard and dogear P-90 better than the full pickguard of the Classic.

Re: So do I start a bidding war?

I saw an SG Junior like my black one the other day for $799. It blew my mind.

UPS Just dropped it off.

Re: So do I start a bidding war?

^^ Indeed. A nice addition to your Jr. stable. This is almost exactly like an example a family friend of mine owns - an original '61 that was modded with a tune-o-matic/stop tail and Grovers.

Here 'down under', you'll never see a second hand Gibson under 1k, no matter what it is and however many headstock repairs it's had. If this thing was being sold here, it would about $1-1.5k easily.

Re: So do I start a bidding war?

Cleaning and setup is taking a lot longer that I thought. I’m trying to erase what looks like years of neglect.

Re: So do I start a bidding war?

Update.

Just got all the corrosion off the ABR Bridge and just replaced the saddles that were as serrated as shark’s tooth with some new Graph Tech saddles.

This guitar should be done tonight. I’m going out to my workbench to give the finish one more buffing.
