So, for the old folks: What did you crank on the boom box back in the 80's?

Did anyone ever fulfill their obligation to Columbia House after getting their 12 cassettes for a penny?

I was on the album program. That's how I got VH1. I think I bought one album out of guilt/self-conscience, then cancelled. The selection was quite MOR. Not enough choice for my amusement.

MJ kicked ass with Off The Wall and Thriller.

Back then, didn't even know Eddie did the Beat It solo (or Lukather with the rhythm)

I didn’t even play guitar back then, much less know who played the guitar solo on Beat it.

I worshipped the song Give in to me. It took me almost a decade to realize that Slash was playing on that track (and album too). I still think that is Slash's best solo, bar none.

When I was like 8 or 9, we'd be at the public pool, and there would always be all these teenage guys walking around with huge boomboxes. I'd walk up and ask what tapes they had, they'd answer "Guns n' Roses", "Aerosmith" or whatever, and I'd go, "Yeah, that's cool," like they gave a fuck what some jackass kid thought about their musical taste.

On my Panasonic Platinum...when cranking it (early 80's)
And of course, all on Maxell Cr02 XLII 90's - from vinyl right after purchase.

I'd have to see if I could find an old stock photo online in order to do that.
