So get this crap!

Digitally Challenged
I posted a few days ago asking about the top mount screws for Floyd lock nuts. I bought 2 brand new Floyds from Warmoth on Feb. 25 and they didn't have these in with the assemblies for some reason. So I call Warmoth and explain to them what happened. The gentlemen I spoke with said that they don't even sell the top mount screws!?! I was dumbfounded! They encourage you not to use and charge you more for specifying holes for a rear mount lock nut on their necks, but don't sell the top mount screws for the nuts? What kind of crap is that? I don't know if it's how they buy their Floyd units form API (Floyd's Distributor) or what. The bridge came in one bag, the nut and hardware in another. Honestly looked like OEM packaging to me.

Anywho, I sent Floyd Rose an email yesterday, and they pretty much told me I had to go pay $4 per set of screws I needed. Didn't offer to send out screws or anything. Just a link saying buy them here. Now I don't know about you, but if I just spent $180+shipping per bridge, I don't think it's remotely kosher that I have to go and spend another $8 + $8.40 in shipping for 4 little ass screws.

*EDIT*EDIT*EDIT*EDIT*EDIT*

I don't like deleting post, but......

To be completely fair, The gentlemen at API(Floyd's Distributor) misread my first email and thought I had misplaced them. I understand people get busy and read through things quickly and some misinterpret text. After receiving my response to the email directing me to a site to purchase the screws, he realized the error and jumped through hoops to rectify the situation. I was away from my computer and didn't see his 3rd and 4th email until just a minute ago. He went ahead and called Musicians Arsenal, confirmed that I had already placed an order for the screws, and is having them refund me the cost of the screws.

I rescind my above comments about not using Floyd Rose bridges. That is going above and beyond normal customer service.

Thought of this:

That is bullsh*t on Warmoth's part! You got the Original Schaller Licensed Floyd right? The one I got from Stewmac had the top mount screws AND the back mount screws. Also notably less expensive than $180 from Warmoth's site, even though I am 99% sure they are the EXACT same unit. Weird.

I'd suggest just not buying parts/hardware from Warmoth. Leave that to sites like Allparts or $tewmac.

Re: So get this crap!

I been into that with vehicles. Buy an aftermarket ball joint and get everthing, buy an OEM replacment and they expect you to reuse the old nut or buy a new one. One would think when they show a part for sale they would have a list of any hardware you might need to use it.

Re: So get this crap!

The fact that they were not included tells me it was not a complete kit. Those screws are supposed to be included.

Those same size screws are available at Home Depot. You get a dozen in a bag or so. Take the nut with you to get the right ones. Flat top, phillips, beveled. I can't recall the exact size.

You should see what some drummers have to go through...

Re: So get this crap!

What confuses me is why every time I buy a complete Floyd from StewMac, I get an R2 nut in the box. There's never an option to specify R3 or other nut size. Are they still under the delusion that people only put Floyds on 1 5/8" Strats and LPs? I shouldn't have to buy the one I need separately, and still be stuck with one I have no use for.

Re: So get this crap!

Call StewMac and ask. AFAIK, when ordering a Floyd Rose, specifying the nut width is a separate option.

Good to hear that FR is taking care of you, Brent.

Re: So get this crap!

"Call..."??? Are you serious? It's the 21st century. Add a drop-down menu to the online order page, or even a radio button next to the various nut options. I have an app for ordering pizza. The only time I should need to call anyone is 911.

Yeah, CALL and ASK why they don't offer it. Maybe that'll make it's way to those that take care of that part. Maybe they only offer it in that nut width. StewMac isn't the only place that sells OFR's. I'm sorry if 19th and 20th century technology is beneath you. ;) :beerchug:

Re: So get this crap!

Glad you got it worked out. What I don't get is why Warmoth doesn't have the correct parts though. The OFR's I see on ebay have an option for nut choice. I bought an R3 off ebay, legit Floyd Rose part, and it came with both types of screws, was also a good deal. Unfortunately the nut shelf is too short for me to use it, so I had to order an Ibanez nut to use instead.

If you had waited a week or so for me to make sure I get all the parts I need I could have helped you out.

Re: So get this crap!

I always ordered my Floyd stuff from Floyd Rose Marketing. Everything was always really clear and easy.

Edit: Oh, wait. That's API.
