So I bought a TS5 Soundtank Tube Screamer...

...and I didn't expect much. It really is a great sounding pedal! It was only $35 and I was going to get it modded by John Spina. He says he isn't doing mods anymore, so I may keep it stock. Anyone else have one? What is your opinion of them?

I have both the TS-9 and TS-5. To my ears I can't tell them apart. I did recently mod my TS-5 for more Gain & Bass. I use the TS-5 for a mild crunch Rhythm and the TS-9 for Lead boost.

Never heard of the TS5 !

I have a TS9 & had a TS10 - how does the " 5 " sound like ?

the TS-5 came in a plastic housing, so it was inexpensive (I bought one new for $30). But it had a good circuit and the good op amp, so it was very similar in sound to a TS-9

The TS-5 units are popular for modifying to 808 specs.
