The Gibson Howard Roberts was once presented as a "fusion between an ES175 and a Les Paul". But the stock bridge pickup, a 490T, did not sound so good in this semi-hollow guitar. I changed it to a Dimarzio Air Norton, but was quite happy with the stock 490R in the neck for many years, even if it sounded somewhat thin in the upper register. However, some weeks ago I stumbled over a used Wolftone Dr Vintage and purchased it. Now the neck pickup sounds smooth, jazzy and meaty all over the fretboard, and the bridge pickup is aggressive and heavy. Like a fusion between a ES175 and a Les Paul? OK; now I have 60 seconds to prove that with the help of my Iphone:
