So I want a cheap convertible 1x12 cab

ehdwuld

A Ficus
Was looking at this
https://www.musiciansfriend.com/amp...ation-jca12s-1x12-guitar-speaker-cabinet-100w

It's got an eminence speaker
An XLR cabinet emulated speaker out
A through jack to power another cabinet

And it's only $150

I was looking at Thomann
And the Harley Benton cabinets

And of course the inexpensive Peavey cabs

But all those were either open or closed
Not convertible

I can always change the speaker in one

Is it that hard to make one convertible

I plan on getting a Bugera G5 which to me has the most features to go with it

Anyone have an opinion
Good bad
Let me hear em

Re: So I want a cheap convertible 1x12 cab

At that price why not? I love that it has the XLR. I just started my love affair with Eminence but I have to say I am loving my Wheelhouse speakers. I say go for it.

EDIT: Just noticed that is 16 ohms what are you going to push it with?

I like Jet City products. Looks like a good deal to me.

i was thinking a Bugera G5
5watt house amp

the G5 has cabinet emulation as well

Re: So I want a cheap convertible 1x12 cab

My only question is what is the ohms output of the Bugera G5? If it is 8 ohms your peak is going to be 2.5 watts going into that cab. More than enough for bedroom practice. That being said I think the combo will sound great. You will be able to push the hell out it at lower volumes. Speaker break up will be nonexsistant but hey that is not a bad thing.

Re: So I want a cheap convertible 1x12 cab

it says 8 ohm minimum and then has the switch for 5 watt or 1 watt or .5 watt

so a 16 ohm speaker at 8 ohms max would be 2.5 watt , right
then it would be super low at half a watt

Re: So I want a cheap convertible 1x12 cab

Yeah but I think you will be fine. My Peavey at 1 watt still cranks. I do not think you can play with a drummer with this rig but it will slay for home practicing and recording.

Can’t believe the price on that jet city. If any good at all that’s a steal.

Re: So I want a cheap convertible 1x12 cab

Check this out. Just received my 2x12 from them today.
Awesome build quality throughout. Birch plywood too!

I'll be giving an in depth review when I get some time in with it.

Peace,

Darrin

It's just a box with no speaker and as far as I can tell, no grille... add features and it becomes the same price as others

He sells them loaded too.

Just received my vertical 2x12 loaded with a Greenback & V30,
Black tolex, grille and a 33% removable back for much less than
comparable name brand products. Awesome build and quality.
Chit, the speakers alone are over $250. Just sayin!

Cabs aren't really detrimentally affected by age, unless utterly abused... and most get re-sold for lack of use just taking up space, not because they got gang-raep'd to death nightly

$250 speaker-alone price can get you lots of good sh!t on the used market

Re: So I want a cheap convertible 1x12 cab

So I just pulled the trigger
The Bugera G5 and the Jet City cab were much less expensive from Thomann
I priced them in the States, the G5 sold used at GC for 8 dollars more than a new one from Germany
Similar with the Cab .it was 113 bucks

So shipping was 30 bucks for one and 4 and change more for the two
Probably should have got a short speaker cable too probably got one round here some where

Now I gotta unload some of these modeling amps

Ya'll know anyone interested in a Peavey Vip2 and Roland Cube 30

The whole reason for having those was being able to get a cranked tone at a volume that wouldn't upset the neighbors

While they still do that
The G5 should scratch that ichat well
And record better

Maybe I can get them here by Christmas

Does anyone think there will be more customs fees or freaking tariffs?

I hope not

You'll like the G5. I have one and run it through a 1x12 w/Greenback.
Replaced the original 12ax7 with a Sovtek, big improvement. Enjoy!

Peace,

Darrin

Re: So I want a cheap convertible 1x12 cab

good to know
I saw several good reviews of it
and I am curious about the emulation

I want to run it into my PA with my Drum loops
so I can balance the volumes

is your cabinet open or closed

I saw some comparisons with the stock Jet City Eminence speaker and a V30 that were dramatic
