So, I'm receiving my cab soon, and..

I need to know how to turn on my tube amps. This is my first cab, so I've never had them fired up before, and I've been waiting for this day FOREVER, but that's what it's like to be a student and to live off of pocket money - but finally the day is coming!

So, I've always been a bit confused about the two different switches, standby and the power switch. Do I turn the power switch on first, then turn the standby switch on and wait for a couple of minutes for it to warm up, and then turn the standby off again, when it's time to play? I've also read that it's good to turn the standby on when not playing, so it keeps the tubes warm.

Can you guys please help? Finally, after like half a year or something, I get to fire those loud beasts up! I am actually glad that I made the decision to keep both amps instead of selling one for a cab, because now I have more versatility (and they're both one channel amps so it could be a bit needed sometimes), the downside is I had to wait half a year or something like that to get a cab, but it's here in a couple of days, so all is good. Now I just hope the tubes aren't bad :smack:

So that means I shouldn't turn the standby switch off again before playing? I should play with it on?

sure, if the standby is off the amp will be in standby, meaning there will be nmo sound coming from it. Both switches on is what you need for full operation.
Turn on the power wait for the tubes to warm up, then turn on the standby and there you go.

I got it now. That also means I should just turn the standby off if I'm not playing for an amount of time, to keep the tubes warm, right?

Framus FR212 CB with 2x12 V30's.

And actually waiting was only hard in the beginning. I realized it's cooler to have 2 heads than to sell one and get a cab instead of it, now I have both AND a cab, even though I had to wait a bit longer. If I had a job, I would have had the cab not long after.

I think the cab will probably arrive tomorrow.

get an AB pedal and run them both in stereo.. that would KILL. I regret not doing that when i had a marshall 401 with my laney.. i didnt think about it though.

I can't, it's a Mono cab I think?? Or can you, with one of those AB boxes?

There's only one 8ohm plug on the cab, but I don't know much about this stuff so please explain :laugh2:

Then you probly cant. My splawn has two ins, so i could run one amp with one speaker. When i had the marshall i was still using the combos speakers, so basically i wouldnt have had that problem. In your case i guess you need two cabs. Start saving! hehe

Well, I only need two cabs if I wanna play both amps simultaneously..If not then I can just switch amplifier.

A/B boxes only go BEFORE the head, just for future reference.

Open the sucker up and make sure there's V30's in there - I've heard of people getting Framus cabs without the proper speakers put in.
