So Krank amps have closed their doors....

Re: So Krank amps have closed their doors....

Ill keep an eye out. I seen two stiff amps for sale on ebay, but they were both the regular black. As far as stiff and krank goes. I heard tony is now back with krank. Is he going to bring back the krankenstein? Are they gonna be called stiff? or a new name?
Yes I'd like to also know the answers to these questions.
I'm still rocking a Revolution 1 combo and love it.

Re: So Krank amps have closed their doors....

Hey guys,
I was fumbling around the internet and found this thread. I've known Tony for quite a while and jumped in when he 'left' Krank and got into creating STiFF. Currently I own a custom (had tony remove the effects loop from the back and place the boost knob on the front - basically making it an 3 channel) 90-AD and a Fist Pump 100. I originally owned the first Fist Pump prototype, but loaned it to a 'friend' and he skipped town, but not before selling it on CL. If ya see it floating around, let me know. It's unpainted (Grey) and has Tony's signature on it. I'd love to have it back. Anyway, i can help answer any STiFF questions if you have any. Mine have been on tour, in the studio and countless shows. Glad to see there is more interest out there for them. They really are kick ass amps.
Welcome to the forum , hope you hang around.

Yeah i got an older modded krankenstein that was christians from fear factory, a rev plus and two krankenstein cabs. love krank products. It was a sad day for me when i heard they closed down. Hopefully krank gets revived by tony and they climb back to the top. Great amps.

Tony is NOT back with Krank. He parted ways a few years ago. However, he still repairs and supports the Krank brand. As for new amps with the Krank name? That ship has sailed. Everything will be STiFF from now on..he's currently building a full sized head and cab. These are gonna be killer.
Krank fans have nothing to worry..It's still the same mad science and engineering in the STiFFs. Personally, i've found them to be more versatile.

I was wondering cuz on krankamps.com it said "We will be bringing back the original Xrank Amps line (under a new name)
with improved tone looks and features." Thats cool to hear hes going to be making cabs too. would deff like to pick up a stiff amp soon. How would you say they compare to the kranks?

I read that as well. I was under the impression the new line was going to be called Tony Krank amps. Stiff amps kinda sucks as a name when you owned a name like Krank. He should have every right to bring that name back as it is his name , just had Tony and your set.
Either way I'm looking forward to trying out the new line. I never got to test drive a Revolution 1+ which is where I wanted to be.

yeah their explanation is kind of bland as to whats going on. If they are going to be called stiff then why say the will be brought back under a new name? why not say they are going to be brought back under the stiff line up? Anyways I'm hoping they bring the krankenstein back. The revolution plus is an awesome amp and has a better clean, but i like the krankensteins dirty channel better.

Re: So Krank amps have closed their doors....

TKO Amps! (Tony Krank's Original Amps)

Call me immature, but every time I hear Stiff Amps I think of "Mr. Johnson". I will say that I hope the Krankenstein lives on somehow just for Dime's legacy.

I thought the Dirty channel of the Krankenstein was awesome but I hated the clean channel. It's why I went Revolution over it. I also like the calmer design of the Revolution 1, I can get a mean drive tone out of it without going all the way over the top. I also like the Legend speakers over the heats, again due to the clean channel. I'm a old Fender Twin kinda guy and love nothing more then a incredible sounding clean. The Rev 1 is the only high gain amp I found that had a "fender like" clean. I even purchased a Peavy JSX and rocked that for awhile while the Rev 1 took a back seat. The JSX got sold and I still love my Rev.

Yeah the krankensteins clean channel isn't that great. I wish it had the revs clean. As for the cabs. I never got to try out the revolution cab due to the lack of dealers there were here in south Pa, but i really like the krankenstein cabinets. I bought a second one right before they went out of business. The peavey jsx is a pretty cool amp too for the price. i bought one used a while back. Its been collecting dust though ever since i got my mesa. Id like to throw some 6550 tubes in it.

Re: So Krank amps have closed their doors....

Tony updated the krankamps.com. the new name is going to be called revolution amplification. Just thought id let everyone know if they didnt see it already.

Re: So Krank amps have closed their doors....
