!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no words can describe how awesome that is going to be! just exclamation marks. lol

Re: So my Custom 8 string multiscale custom kelly becomes real

Man, that's just straight up insane dude!! I'm happy for you. I'm still tryin to figure out these six stringed ones myself.

Re: So my Custom 8 string multiscale custom kelly becomes real

I have never gotten the deal with fanned frets though... but thats just me.

Do you mean the idea of playing on them, or the concept behind it? The concept is to have a longer scale length on the bottom strings for better intonation.

Re: So my Custom 8 string multiscale custom kelly becomes real

^^ combining multiple scale lengths, for ex. the fatness of a les paul on the top strings combined with the precision attack and clarity of a Strat on teh botom strings ;)

Looks badass, I probably couldn´t play it to save my life, but I just build `em :beerchug:

I wouldn´t recommend mounting the bridge on Alpha pots, though, if anything use CTS, more stable :laugh2:

Re: So my Custom 8 string multiscale custom kelly becomes real

the idea of playing on them. lol It would feel VERY weird to me. lol

That´s what I thought when I first heard about Bob Novax´s idea of "fanned frets"... but TBH, when you play one it feels kinda like it should have always been that way in the first place ;)

Re: So my Custom 8 string multiscale custom kelly becomes real

Thanx everyone.
The most insane thing about it is that it's made of 1 piece wenge. No joints or anything.
The neck will get some carbon stripes installed for stability.
The frets are gong to be scalloped and SS fretwire is going to be used.
I tune it Low a to high G
The high G is 24,5" scale and I will use a 008 for that.
The Low is 27" scale and it will be 0,066.

Flat board will let me have a killer low action for very precise playing.

Oh and Zerb... The bridge(s) is ABM singles LOL.

Re: So my Custom 8 string multiscale custom kelly becomes real

i'm gonna try and find a guitar with fanned frets and play it to see how I like it. because just like scalloped fretboards, I finally played them last year, and I dug the way it felt.

Edit: I just noticed they are going to be scalloped, as i've never saw that done before.

Re: So my Custom 8 string multiscale custom kelly becomes real

I scalloped my RG1527 ,and I am not going to play unscalloped fretted guitars anymore.
But the next custom will be an 8 string multiscale fretless with carbon-composite neck and body.
I am researching for the right board material for the next one. Some kind of Bronze with maybe some coating. My brother is an Engineer ,and he researches some techical details for me hehe

....

I assume you mean the neck is going to be 1 piece wenge?? Because I can already see 2 pretty obvious glue joints on the neck /body combo... or are those inlaid accents running down parallel to the neck in pics 3 and 4 (full shots with attached{?} fretboard)?:eek13:

The wings do appear to continur the figure, meaning it may have well been one piece at one time, but from the pics it still looks like 3 pieces....

...

Why you frickin TSCHIETAAAAAAA!!!!! :laugh2:

But seriously, anything else would be senseless on a multiscale axe :beerchug:

Check out Vigier - they do a metal fingerboard on their fretless Surfretter; don't know if they'd release the specs of their fingerboard if you were to contact them. It looks like bronze of sorts.

The wenge and maple combo is quite an eye popper :eyecrazy:. Nice to see a fanned fretboard on an electric, they're fairly common on high-end classical guitars.

Re: So my Custom 8 string multiscale custom kelly becomes real

^^ It does appear in fact to be a bronze alloy, and some contact with a few of the european endorsees and playing of a few such axes at trade shows as well further leads me to believe that this is true ;)

I wanna get the board on my 84 fender scalloped actually. but i don't wanna mess it up doing it myself. I wanna get it done professionally. if I had my way, all my guitars that I get from now on would have scalloped boards, I love it. well... from the 12th fret up only on some guitars...

Well ,if they really "cut" the 1 piece and glued it together ,it already kills the deal ,since I payed a big extra chunk of money just for this. I am going to clarify this in some days. Thanx for the heads up! :friday:

The meatl Idea was from surfretter ,since we where toying with Glass and Cermaic ideas too.

Metal has 2 very important advantages. It's easier to work with ,and it doesn't break like glass or ceramic.

But instead of copying Monseiur Vigier ,I try another way to get the perfect surface. The 0,066 is a big string ,and can be very hard on the board.

Cool stuff so far bro, can't wait to see it all done.
Zero radius fretboard is killer too.

It's a PITA thing to do ,when you don't have the proper tools and workshop. It took ver y long for me to sand down with different sanding papers. I learned alot and I learned to give a huge respect to the Luthiers LOL.:bling:
