So my Custom 8 string multiscale custom kelly becomes real

Re: So my Custom 8 string multiscale custom kelly becomes real

i'm gonna try and find a guitar with fanned frets and play it to see how I like it. because just like scalloped fretboards, I finally played them last year, and I dug the way it felt.

Edit: I just noticed they are going to be scalloped, as i've never saw that done before.

BTW ,if it's you on your avatar ,I am shure you would like Fanned frets for that playing position. Much easy going on the wrist ,and more precision on the chords.:friday:

So those "possible glue marks" ended up being drawen lines to put the bride right. They sent me a bigger picture and how the lines where on other places on the board too.

^^ ah, that would of course explain it as well... :beerchug:

I wouldn´t have said anything but in this pic:

The center appears to be darker, but that could also be lighting playing with the figure and lines...

And in this pic:
IMAG0231.jpg

the lines appear to be about 1mm thick, which made it loook like a stripe of ebony or similar was inlaid or sandwiched..

But it´s almost always better to ask questions from the get go than to be unhappily surprised a few months later.:beerchug:

BTW, this wouldn´t be by any chance coming out Adam and Sebastian´s shop, or?? I may need to come up to berlin when she gets there and knock you unconscious, I wants me a fanned fret 8 string , too.... no Idea what the sam hill 7 of the strings are for, but I´ll figure something out :laugh2::beerchug:

BTW, what´s she going to set you back? I´m thinking about 2k-2.5k minimum...

And what are the rest of the specs? 1 pc wenge neck/body, maple board, scalloped non radiused fretboard, 27 <> 24.75" scale, 27 frets + a zero fret (or are they actually going to cut an angled Nut?? That would be crazeeeeeee :headbang: ) ABM single bridges.... But what kind of PUs? Lundgren? Conklin? Is the fretboard overhang going to be removed to make room for a neck PU or will this be a single PU axe?

Should have gotten it as a bolt on, though, an 8 string Jackson headstock would be great in the winter for Ice Hockey :chairfall

^^:haha:

Though it would be a badass idea to redesign a Floyd in such a way that it can accomodate this kind of setup.... probably physically impossible, but still way cool :D

Re: So my Custom 8 string multiscale custom kelly becomes real

Wasn't there a trem that dropped all the strings in tune?

Re: So my Custom 8 string multiscale custom kelly becomes real

Hahahah!
I was designing with ABM a multiscale 8 string trem. It's still in works . but I don't want it for myself. It's just a favor the the ERG community heheh. Peter Borowski at ABM is a cool guy ,and we had some sessions of brainstorming to get some "new" trem designs done.

I prefer the sound of a fixed bridge . After having both kind of bridges ,I really love hardtails better.

This thing is going to have some bevels ,some small design add-ons.

It's not going to have a pot ,only an On-Off switch. and the switch will sit-on a maple pyramid.

So will the PU covered with a nicely shaped wood.1mm thin maple .

Steinberger Trans Trem (which literally stands for "Transposing Tremolo"). Have fun finding one, last one I saw a few months ago went for almost 400 bucks...

Yess ,it's a Kahler. it costs 600 something dollars tho! LOL.

Are you sure??? The Kahler Pros hold relative tuning more consistently than a Floyd, but chords are still massively out of whack... And the only ones I know are the Pro, Flyer, Vindicator, and of course all the old Floyd styles (Spyder, Steeler, Killer, et al.) that defeinitely aren`t Trans Trems....

If there´s a Kahler that can do what a Trans Trem does then I need to smack Tony and Gary for not telling me and continuing to sell me PRO parts all these years :laugh2:

Re: So my Custom 8 string multiscale custom kelly becomes real

Hahaha ,I was mentioning the 8 string one. I don't remember the number of it. But the scale length/difference is adjustable.
I assume I misunderstood PFD.

That fiddle has deamon bbq written all over it! :approve:

I can't wait for a clip of you playing Folsom Prison Blues on it! :eyecrazy:

Yesss! Somehow ,it's totally me.:friday:

Clips are going to be awesome ,but I dunno if the "blues" part could be made by my fingers. It's the kind of music I really can't do! I sink Ze Jermans Can't play the Bloos ya know!

Re: So my Custom 8 string multiscale custom kelly becomes real

so i take it youre getting an 8-string PATB for it?

Re: So my Custom 8 string multiscale custom kelly becomes real

Definitely a Telecaster set, paint it all in a butterscotch is finish to cover all the grain, put some foam at the end of the headstock and the body to not hurt people, have a three way, MV/Tone, vintage frets (must have), and play it at about nipple height of course.

And the strings very, very high, with a slide or some chicken picking.

But eh... it's your axe man :D

Re: So my Custom 8 string multiscale custom kelly becomes real

No! It's impossible to use a PATB on a multiscale. The polepieces do not match the angle of the bridge and strings ,and SD do not make custom angled bobbins for a PATB. I use a q-tuner for this guitar.
But ,my next 8 is getting a custom made non SD PATB stlye bucker ,with Q-tuner guts LOL.
It will be a very funny experiment indeed!
