I'm thinking my dream amp would be a Bassman circuit as channel one, and Plexi as two... Would it be hard to have the same shared preamp, maybe with a couple different options, but two independent power amps?
6L6s for the Bassman/JTM45 vibe and EL34s for a JPM50 vibe. Maybe different PI too. But otherwise the components would be very similar! A 4X10 cab stock, and it could be hooked up to another 4X12 for that real Plexi vibe.
Ok to be honest, I've been thinking VERY hard about building a Deluxe Reverb clone someday (without the fancy bits like Tremolo and reverb, so essentially just that 22W blackface tone :32
and well... The Bassman has a different vibe which I love too, and hell, if the Plexi is that similar of course... :| I have the diagrams I need for the preamps, but not for the poweramps, but I'm getting better at this stuff anyway.
Channel 1: Bassman voicing, ie. 6L6s with maybe a gain boost that's footswitchable
Channel 2: Plexi voicing, maybe hot rodded a bit, like you'd get if you used a jumper on a classic 1987 or 2204 (I.. think)
Maybe it's a little too much like 2 amps in one casing though.
