So the new Sterling SUB series...

I actually came across these online. There is the Silo3 that seems to be something I'd like to have around for practicing on. It seems they have been around for a while, so has anyone got to own these?

I think these are comparable to the Yamaha Pacifica 112(JorV) stuff price wise & maybe QC wise too?. What's the verdict on these, like are they steady & durable build wise, while electronics not being a priority.

Don't own one but have tried the example stocked at my local guitar shop.

The comparison that you draw with the evergreen Yamaha Pacifica 112 is about right. Playability and build quality seems as good. Built-to-a-price corner cutting is detectable but can easily be remedied with hardware and electronic upgrades. The S.U.B. neck proportions are more to my liking than the Yamaha. (40mm at the nut is too tight for me.)

If I did not already have a stack of project guitars clogging up my home, I would happily grab a Sterling.

Cool, so more or less on par with the pacifica 112j quality wise then. I'll be picking up either 1 of those as a spare one for practice, can't try the Silo3 in person so mostly have to decide with a coin toss on that. Their new tobacco burst finish looks nicer than the plain red/black/white, looks like they are using a veneer, nice nonetheless.

I've heard pretty positive feedback about these guitars, especially the Silo 3, which got good reviews from a few magazines. The asymmetric neck carve might end up winning you over, I heard the stock pickups that come with those are pretty good too. I heard one - the trem arm is reportedly pretty stiff, though I don't really know whether that has been fixed by now. You can't really go wrong with either as a project guitar or a spare practice guitar.

I've come across a couple and they are good guitars. I would say it may be a more of a case by case basis than with the actual Music Man guitars, so I would make sure I could play the guitar first. That being said, they're nice.

Well it will be a while before I can get either one of these, but I'll see if I can get a first person experience with the Silo3.
