So, uh, Triaxis

Recent, yet fuzzy, picture of my rack rig...

I'm still sporting the B.C. Rich USA Warlock NT standard with Seymour Duncan Distortion and Alnico II Pro pickups through a Dunlop Crybaby Q-zone, Mesa/Boogie Triaxis pre, TC Electronic G-major, Mesa/Boogie 2:Ninety power amp, a Crate GS412s with Celestion G12H-80s, and a Mesa Rectifier cabinet with Vintage 30s..

I'm digging the V30 cab with the Rectifier sound and a little of the 80 watt Celestions in the mix.

My main sound is the Mark IV searing lead with emphasis on the 80 watt Celestions with just a bit of Vintage 30s though.

Re: So, uh, Triaxis

One of the coolest and best sounding rack preamps ever made. I really need to get my crap together and get one before Mesa does something stupid and discontinues it like they do all their other good stuff.

Re: So, uh, Triaxis

I've always wondered about the Triaxis ever since I tried the Recording Pre. The Mesa Recording Pre was spectacular and I always figured the Triaxis was even better but never had a chance to play one.

Love the pic, that is really kickin it old school. Brings back memories.

I used a JMP-1 back in the day because I prefered the Marshall tone, but that comes down to personal taste. A lot of my friends used Triaxis and it is definitely a cool unit.

Awesome.

But man, I wish you'd sell that Warlock to me so I can get her back to her sexy hot pink self!

Most of the guitar tones I dig (Mark IV, Mesa Recto, 5150, JCM 900, Pittbull) are still pretty much available from modern amps. I just think it's lucky that this was one of the version 2 tris with the Recto board for Lead 2 Red.

I haven't run it in an A/B comparison with the Recto Recording pre, but definitely get what sounds like the overdriven Recto orange or red to my ears when compared to recordings, especially when using the recto cab.

Awesome.

Can't sell it! :D That guitar has been my main since I was 19!

Love it.

Why you don't place the rack on top of the cab?

The cabinet is a slant top, so the top edge is only about 15" or so deep. The SKB standard racks are closer to 20" deep. I wouldn't want to try to balance them up there.

Re: So, uh, Triaxis

While looking for a picture for another thread, I ran across this. It is a less fuzzy (though not all lit) pic of the rack.

Of course, the picture was photobombed by one of my girlfriend's pet ratties...
