Some of the Gibson finishes.... Gecko (aka split pea baby poo burst), Latte, Rootbeer..... Not my cup of tea.

I actually like the antigua burst by Fender...

Another I cannot stand are LPs with bursts shaped like pears. Like this... and it doesn't matter what color... the burst pattern in nasty.

Not all orange is bad. I have an Ibanez RG750 in Five Alarm Red that for all intents and purposes is neon orange. It looks awesome with the black hardware and pickguard...

I don't see the word "Gretsch" anywhere on that guitar. I don't think you understand the rule.

I think this one is disgusting.

Honestly, I'd have that one but only with black pickups and pots. And for the record, I hate anything with crazy colors on it. But I liked that one, go figure.

And I don't like that pasty, pale pink you see in some Fender Strats. DUnno what it's called. Not really ugly, but I'd never expect myself to dislike something so subtle.

But now this is really disgusting:

All orange guitars, with the exception of Gretsch, are hideous.

For builders: it's simple ... if you're Gretsch, you can make an orange guitar. If you are NOT Gretsch, you can't. That's the rule.

HHmmm... this is still my favorite finish ever, and I think Gretsches are ugly in general. Actually I really like orange on any guitar.

The ugliest finish? That would have to be a Strat in seafoam green, powder blue, or shell pink. My God, what were they thinking?

Yeah, nothing says "quality instrument" like painted-on F holes (either that or they just look REALLY weird.)

Not painted on. Apparently people didn't like Coronados when they were new. I don't like hollowbodies in general, which might be why I didn't mind the 'nado But it IS a real hollowbody, real F holes and etc

on every one I've played at least. (My fave was a coronado XII I have a pic of somewhere...)

Antigua was invented to cover up the burnmarks by experimental binding installation. It then caught on on nonbound finishes

But I think it's much less ugly than a regular sunburst.

And I can tell it's a real F hole from that pic. Forgive me Dangle-san.

Hollow bodies are cool. Bolt-on hollow-bodies, however ...

I LOVE the antigua and gecko burst finishes! And all those 80's finishes rock too! For my money, the ugliest guitar finish is a plain ol' brown burst. Boooooooooooooooring!

The fridge my family had when I was growing up had the same finish!
