I just wanted to confirm that this mod does work and it makes the tweakfuzz get nice 'n' loud. IMHO i think it should have came this way, but, to each his own I suppose. Here is a short "how-to" if you are mixed up with the details:
After you take to 1/4 jack nuts off you will be able to find R5 and R4 on the board.
First, get a grip on the resistor with a pair of tweezers.
Next, put your soldering iron on the solder that is holding the resistor in place(you only have to do this on one side of it). At the same time start to lightly pull on the resistor. It will pop right off.
Now, putting R5 back onto where R4 was is not as easy. If you are not sure if you want to attempt this with the tiny resistor, then you may want to get a striped resistor from radio shack. Worst possible scenario would be that solder fills the gap where the resistor should be. I was actually very worried that this was going to happen to me. Could someone more experienced with soldering comment on what to do if this happens?
