So who uses or used a MXR Wylde OD ?

Re: So who uses or used a MXR Wylde OD ?

Where did you find the time to try 200 different pedals?

Also, I'm having a hard time believing that the Metal Zone was the best choice out of 200 other candidates. The Wylde OD, sure, it's a good pedal, but the Metal Zone? Really?

WEll music is my job so I got the time. I bought the Metal Zone not because it was the very best,
but because traditionally it has been such a reference for heavy distortion.
I teach guitar and I have that one to experiment with it and teach the diff between that and say, tubes dist.

Re: So who uses or used a MXR Wylde OD ?

all this talk of tube screamers and overdrives has me wondering if I should be content or keep searching

I have a bad monkey and a rocktron nitro booster/enhancer..Im not looking to get SRV sounds thru my clean channel..Im looking to push my lead channel over the top . I am wondering if the MXR wylde OD would be the best for this

the Bad Monkey I use mostly with my valve Jr amp, the rocktron I use more or less always on infront of my Ultra channel on my PV,it gives nice slight compression and sustain.....now if I can just find that screaming boost on top of that

what do ya think?

Why not get a TS9 then ?
SRV used both the TS9 and 808 live, so why not get what he used ?
Or, if you are on a budget-hunt, get the uber affordable TS7 and do the 808 mod for $10.00 in parts.

I have the ZW44 Wylde OD, and i like it alot. Infact, i sold my Boss SD-1 because they are simmilar, but i prefer the little bit of extra low end that the ZW44 has. The MXR has a wee bit more gain too, when maxed.

The OD I use is an SD-1, and if I had the money, I'd replace it with a wylde OD.

With my Peavey, I set it up for a good overdrive tone, ya know... getting a nice hot tube sound, but not much distortion. Then I use a dirt box at about 2 or so [out of 10], and then an OD to drive that further for solos. It sounds better to cascade three different overdrives [or 4 if you count my pickups], as opposed to a bunch of gain from one going into the clean tone of the Peavey.

I used a Wylde OD and liked it but not too much more than my SD-1.

The ZW will definitely push an amp. If you're looking for that "little bit more" I'd look into a clean boost. But, if the ZW sounds interesting to you, I'd give it a shot since they can be had quickly and fairly cheaply.
