So you think you're good at tapping?

Re: So you think you're good at tapping?

but they are all the wrong instruments...if people really want to get good at tapping, you need a Warr Guitar http://www.warrguitars.com or a Chapman Stick http://www.chapmanstick.com
There are Stick and Warr players out there that can run circles around these guys and still play bass parts, and guitar parts on 1 instrument.

I've never once seen guys do stuff like this at shows. This indicates something. A lot of these amazing techniques simply aren't practical. They have no place in the kind of rocking music people want to listen to. Guys who spend too much time on technique and no time jamming with other guys in a band setting wind up as "woodshed warriors".

I would rather be a mediocre guitar player who enjoys what I do, gets paid and recieves adulation from fans than a guy who is only noticed by other musicians over the internet.
My thoughts exactly.

Yeah Crimson uses a Stick and a Warr guitar. The thing is, a Stick has the range of a piano. If you are going to devote all this time to learning to play a certain way, you might as well get the proper tool.
It is like a young guy learning to play softball, and never switching over to baseball. It seems like a waste of time.

That's quite cool, although I'm much more impressed by bass tapping and bass slapping. As far as the pure physicality goes, it's about five times as hard and it's QUITE amazing to see.
