First time I've been disappointed in one of Mike Fuller's products. The Chorus is transparant and clean but just not deep enough. The stereo spread is not dramatic enough when I play through two amps. And the flanger doesn't really sound like a flanger to me. ( remember Ichy Coo Park by the Small Faces? That's NOT what it sounds like! ) It's out of here...on the way to Germany. :burnout: I like my old MIJ Boss CE2 ( got two of them ) and my Danelectro Cool Cat better...no kidding! The Cool Cat sounds HUGE when played through two amps in stereo...it's noisy and goes through batteries like Dano has stock in Everready or somethin'...but it sounds better to me.

I've always wondered what the quality of Danelectro effects was.
(Well . . . not "always", but you know what I mean.)

Me too! Can't comment on the quality/reliability...I don't gig with it. But tone wise I think the Dano Cool Cat sounds great and they're inexpensive. They have a bit of noise when the note fades out...like a noise gate opening and there's a little hiss that builds as the note fades out. But I only hear that when I play by myself. Can't hear that at all when I'm playing with other musicians. I wish they were not made in China...I bought mine when Dano first started up again and didn't know where they were made.

I like the pedal, and use it, but I do know what you mean. I have it set as dramatic as possible, but it still sounds smooth, and not very whooshy. I kinda like it that way,
because it doens't make me sound like a chorus abuser. I only use it on one song anyway. It does do a nice, true bypass, stereo split. As far as Flange, it's OK,
but my ADA Flanger kills it. However, that's another pedal that gets stepped on for
3 parts of one song. There's always another pedal. Find an old Roland.

How's the TC Electronics Chorus compare to the Fulltone? Deeper? "Better"?
Thanks! Lew

Like most people, I made that chorus choice between the Fulltone and TC.
Because the TC has a big power cord, and it's butt ugly, I opted for the Fulltone. I'm not sorry I did, because I do like it, but in retrospect, I think the TC might have been the better of the two. On the other hand, when people are listening to your song, I'd rather them say, "what is that cool sound on his clean channel, than "Whoa, he's using chorus!"

Re: Sold my Fulltone Chorus/Flanger

I think the TC sounds amazing and wish I used chorus enough to justify buying one!

Re: Sold my Fulltone Chorus/Flanger

The TC is very transperant and polite, but it is a quiet and wellmade unit.
The gate'ish sound in your coolcat is probally a cheap compander circuit you hear Lew, could probally be replaced and yield good results, sometimes those cheaper chorus units has the extra dirty chorus, it is like our own chorus...I don't like it much in mono, in stereo it is huge....but like the tc it is too tranparent for me.
Well it is only a matter of time before it is discontinued due to the chips has becoming rather expensive and less reliable.
I use an Ibanez RC-99 chorus, I even had one of the purple ones they made, I like Ibanez chorus's alot.
And I had a go on the ADA-flanger the other day Joneser....UH!!!man that thing is evil...in a good way..;)hehe
Anyways the Foxrox Paradox is also a very good flanger....

Actually it sounds like it delivers the goods:)

Thanks! I agree with you. For mono playing I still prefer my old Boss CE2...I only use the Dano when I want that HUGE stereo sound. I think David Gilmore is supposed to be a big fan of the Boss CE2 also. To me, THAT is a classic chorus sound. The others would be Joni Mitchell's and Pat Metheny's chorus sound. Joni even says Roland invented the Jazz Chorus amp for HER! Maybe they did... Lew

Re: Sold my Fulltone Chorus/Flanger

Yeah RID, I found my ADA Flanger for $80! It's a little beat, since it's old, but there's a whole series of internal minipots all over the circuit. When I bought it, I opened it up
and figured out what each minipot did, then found it's Q on each one, while strumming.
If any of you guys find an old ADA, snap it up! You'll likely only use it sparingly,
but man, what a sound! Everything from swizzle stick to the sound of jet engines
revving up! I especially like the sound of mute/raking all the strings with it on,
during a break in the song, then shutting it off, and slamming into a chorus.
Dramatic as hell!
