Soldano Avenger

I just played a SOLDANO Avenger, well cranked, in a store for an hour and a half today. WOW! Nice saturated metal machine. Strat with LACE sounded like 80s clapton.

I A/B's it against an SLO100 and a MESA TRIPLE REC, and I LIKED THE AVENGER A TON! It has a woody, thick, yet organic tone. It's soulful, yet the depth knob allows me to get as much chunk as I could ask for.

IF ONLY it had an FX loop.

Those are nice amps. I've probably played that same one at the Sherman Oaks GC. I like that amp...probably more than other Soldanos and Mesas. It's a little loose, but it's got nice gain, as long as you don't let it get muddy sounding.

It's so hard to tell at the store. If you had it in your possession, with your guitars/cabs, you'd probably like it even more, since the rest of the chain would be top notch. I'm not sure I'd lay out retail on it, but it'd be a great amp to look for used, for a sweet deal.
