So it's either the Veneer is so thin and covered by the paint, or mine actually has a solid quilt maple top contrary to what most think...

opinions?

It looks like you have an alder body LP with a very thin veneer. All the MIC and MIK models have a thin veneer top. You need to go to the Epi Elitist or Epi Japan (has Gibby headstock) lines to get a solid maple cap.

Copy that. Mahogany body, alder top, maple veneer :)
(which, by the way, isn't a bad thing! It's just different from Gibson and the Elitist-series)

What is exactly veneer, a kind of pfoto flame ? Or a thin coat of wood ?

Veneer is a thin sheet or strip of wood. Sometimes as thin as half a millimetre, other times thicker.

Photo flame is something entirely different, and is basically a photograph of flamed wood adhered to the top and then cleared over.

Veneer is found in lots of high end applications, from the dashboards of Rolls Royce and Jaguar (amoung other brands) to furniture to guitar tops to kitchen cabinetry.
Really nice burled veneer is actually quite pricey. Whereas more basic veneers such as oak or plain maple are a lot less. And no, veneer is not limited to high end applications. I'm just saying that its not excluded from them, either, and the presence of veneer instead of a solid block of wood does not automatically mean "cheap".

The presence of photo-wood (or stone or whatever else you would imagine) is usually found on less expensive pieces, though again, not exclusively. (Think cammo'd gun stocks or atvs)

Probably an unremarkable maple cap with thin venner over top

8 ply binding?! I can't say that I've ever seen that.

What brand and model is that?

Re: Solid Maple or Veneer on my Epiphone LP???

My PRS SE Singlecuts also have the thin flame maple veneer over a plain maple top.

But my black SE Singlecut doesn’t. It’s just mahogany with a plain maple top painted black...no veneer.

It sounds the best too.

Not certain but I believe they only use veneer for the flame & quilt ones, and that the opaque solid color guitars mostly don't have it.

While i do not know about the newer Chinese Epip LP's. My Korean 2004 LP Custom definitely has a maple cap and looks a bit like yours but with that awful black conductive paint in the pup cavities.

Also from the same year (2004) see this.

Although the picture shown is labelled incorrectly as a Custom. The binding is wrong.
