I really do not like solid state amps for guitar but I love solid state for bass. It's just a preference thing at the end of the day though.

Forget the proper model,but everyone I played thru was pretty awesome.

I crack up when I see posts "How do I get ____'s guitar tone" knowing most of those guys in the 60's and 70's used what ever amp was available in the studio. In the seventies a lot of those classic albums were recorded with solid state amps. When you pull up pic of the Gods of guitar in the studio they were using the amps that are most popular at the time. Silverfaces and solid state amps.

LMAO. I don't own a SS amp for guitar and I haven't owned a SS guitar amp in over a decade now. Does this mean I must not be that into guitars?

Solid state does the cleanest of the cleans and the highest gain imaginable. Some people feel like they can get by with sounds more in the middle of either and settle on a tube amp.

Some people settle for solid state amps when they can't figure out how to get their settings right on a tube amp.

I hope that is sarcasm. With all of the amp choices out there I pray we are all using different gear. If we all used a Les Paul, 800 and a TS it would be time to put rock and roll to bed. I am one of those that does not subscribe to "sounds better" put the focus on the person making the music not the machine amplifying it.
